My story.
I had a heavily tuned Toyota Celica GT4 Turbo. UK build.
This included a huge inter cooler that liked fresh cool air. The number plate obstructed the air flow. So I got a legal stick on one for the bonnet.
I got pulled in central London. I was given a ticket for "failing to display a front number plate". I was told that the plate had to be readable and was quoted some measurements. But I was told that it has to be vertical. Hence why most cars have specific plate holders on the front and Mitsubishi Evo's have an offset square plate.
I appealed the ticket and lost.
So no plate = ticket.
The offence is failing to display. It fell of would not hold much water. Also the Police who cruised by a couple of times will now have put markers against your cars. That takes care of the it fell off argument.
