BMW M3 v CL55

I'm willing to bet anyone here £100 it cant do a true 200mph.

Just a quick remark:

A New BRABUS E V12 is out and it is the hottest saloon ever made:

12-cylinder, twin-turbo, 6.3 ltr 640 bhp engine and plus a handy 756lb/ft of torque.

0-60 mph: 4.5 sec
max speed: 217 mph (LIMITED!!!)

And another thing. I own a fully-armoured S500 which is made to order. It's pretty heavy, but everything else is designed to save the "client's life":
Everything is done by Lorinser: engine, exhaust system, shocks, and etc.
I had it superchipped aswell and the ECU remapped. I will not mention what power I am handling, but a fact stays a fact - a VERY powerfull vehicle.
Of course - it would be greater if to remove armoured doors and bullet-proof windows :)
But never-the-less: I have done an M5 without major struggle. Why? It's all NOT only in the size of the engine, but in the driver too!
Another remark: might sound rude, but comparing a Merc with a BMW is like comparing a d*ck with a finger... :) :) :)

Racing cars

These posts remind me of one night in Barnsley of all places

There I was with squeeze in my Stag, waiting at the lights to go straight on,
two blokes in an Opel Manta pull up on my left.....
(this was quite a while ago guys and Pammy)

looks were exchanged.......car engines revved.. lights turn..I shot off smoked them completely then I looked in the mirror and the the Manta had serenely turned off left.......

The squeeze found my discomfort hilarious!

ee it's reet grim up t'north

I cant be the only one that's been mugged at the lights like this!

Do you still get that gut feeling when your sitting at the lights on a quiet stretch of clear duel carriageway at dusk when a worthy opponent rolls up beside you, eyes meet... 3 2 1... Can you resist temptation?

I know I can't...

Nope, I have the same trouble :D :bannana:
My tire's are on their last legs now, which means I dont mind leaving two black lines away from the lights

LOL!

Ive left a few black lines on the roads in my time, but ive equally left a few brown ones too :(

I took great pleasure switching ESP off when my last set of tires were on their last legs and just burning them to hell! - I was quite proud when the tyre fitter said that he hadn't quite seen slicks this good for a while... LOL

Touching back on a previous post on this thread:

I had the pleasure of meeting two brothers yesterday at Bruntingthorpe, one has a M3 CSL and the other a Porsche GT3.

They took me out in both, and both unbelievable cars, the sound, grip and handling is second to none, and the breaks!!

However the CSL and GT3 could not keep up with my CL55. I outrun the CSL within a few seconds of launch, and the GT3 after about 70mph.

We were both side by side, and the CSL left me standing going round the bend onto the two mile straight at about 70ish, however I caught him by 150mph and then slowly past him down the two mile straight. His true top speed was 165mph, and mine 176mph.

Different card for different jobs though.

Well, thats another dispute cleared up then Matt !!

Well done !! sounds like a great day .....

Matt, did you switch the ESP off on one of your runs yesterday?

Noticed during one of your take offs a *lot* of rubber....and tyre smoke!

Excellent. Well done. What was the fastest vehicle there?

Yep, done two runs with ESP off, 1 against the CSL and left two black lines down the road, and the other against a Porsche Turbo, but that was a bad thing to do as I lost too much time spinning the wheels and he got ahead, but I held firm with him once traction regained!

Will start a seperate thread in Events section once my video's are complete!

Again, an excellent day Greg :D

Just out of interest do you know what your car was revving at when at 176MPH?
I guess there may be more revs to go....?

From my NOS days I have a little excel program that works out theoretical in gear speed based on a combination of red line, gear ratios, final drive, wheel, tyre size, etc... :D

PM me know if you want a copy...

My highest speed was 177mph (185 on speedo) which was approx 5900 rpm in 4th gear.
5th gear was never used.

My car runs to 6700 rpm in all gears

Hmm so whats Maffs theoretical maximum ?

Gotta be 200 + surely .....
