Bought myself an A45 AMG today

You place a pot of (unopened) custard on your car to prove it's actually yours.

There was an hilarious thread on PH I think it was where a newish member was mentioning some amazing cars that he owned and nearly everyone called him a Walter Mitty...that was until he took a load of photos of his cars with pots of custard on...

Presumptious ...maybe...but two threads bleating on about being 18 and able to afford expensive cars doesn't suggest he is otherwise. As others have said, on this thread, they never felt the need to bang on about it. If he had merely come on here to talk about the car he would not have got any grief...and hasn't learnt since the first time he tried this nonsense.

Two threads? Well I'm with you on the point of show boating. Only puts you off actually giving a monkeys.

Yes, I remember that one.... I think one of them was a beautiful BMW 3.0 CSL.

Insurance

Reading this thread, glad I am old..... Insurance on the 320CLK £280 now, for both of us fully comp, with towing caravan allowed etc, £250 excess. Focus 1.6 Zetec (second car) £380 for same cover. Seems that as I had a company car for years, any no claims is non transferrable, so had to start again. With 1 years no claims, they would not insure the Merc in my name, so we swapped the cars over.
Seems that when you are over 50, type of car is less relevant?
Will look for multi-car policy next year, as have 4 vehicles at moment, but all expire different months etc....

Cool story bro. :thumb: :p

The most I've paid for insurance is £442 per month! That was on a limited mileage policy, third party only. (Fully comp was considerably more in this case, sometimes fully comp is cheaper).

The Merc isn't a sports car, and I'm a year older so now I pay about half of that per month. Still a lot by some of you old fogies standards. :p

If true, then well done fella.
If not, equally well done for winding up so many in such a short time ;)

Why is that? A young lad with a good job splashes out on a quick car. Good luck to him. You lot are such a bunch of bore's, with nothing to say except constantly have a go at someone. I need to ask. Why did you even mention me posting, other than to Troll?

Joke response surely ?

I like it, you're more self deprecating than I had given you credit for !

Really?? To me it looks pretty sad either way.

If true, it's a sad indictment of his character that he feels this is an achievement to be proud of irrespective of the age.

If not, (most likely given all the conflicting information between the two threads) it's a pretty sad reflection of his life that he needs to post like this on a forum to get entertainment.

Personally, I don't care either way, however, I do feel that whichever is true neither of them deserve to be congratulated.

cheers, Steve

An 18 year old lad who's done well for himself and bought himself a brand new car, and a quick one at that? What's not to be proud of?

I think he should be very proud of his achievement, I'd be disturbed if he took it for granted!

It's not a question of pride, it's really a question of being prudent. And let's keep things in context, a Golf GTi is a quick car.

Ok so let's assume that what he said in his threads is true. He took the advice of someone else to invest in bitcoins, he sold them for more money than his original investment, and he then takes that money to buy a new car.

This is an achievement to be proud of?? There's nothing wrong with making money, or spending it, for that matter, but equally I personally don't think it's engenders pride.

You think differently and that's ok too. We are entitled to air our own differing opinions.
