A couple of shots of my ongoing brake up-grade, involving new hats/bells to the discs and new caliper brackets, been ongong for past few weeks these photos are of the final trial fitment last Saturday, and hopefully PCS will be getting them fitted for me in the next two weeks, which will allow me to have a little play with them at the November GW trackday a few of us are going to.
I have a couple of other items on the go as well, but no where near finished, but must say a big thank you to Alx and Savman for all their help and advice with these things.

does this mean you can do more than 1 lap at Goodwood now :)

Sean, hopefully without turning them a gold colour again!

On another subject from one of your previous threads, have you changed your wheels as yet...?, as your interest with forgestar wheels has aquired my interest, one in looks and two weight saving, thinking they look jolly good value for money.

I couldn't get head around the cost of the wheels ... around £6k with tyres ..

plus I just got 4 new tyres for my 18" AMGs ..

Looking good Ricky :)
I got the back brackets designed to day and a pattern made in timber :)

Hi Marc, ill be interested to see and hear how your coming along with your fitment, really interesting that we have these two Brabus brake sets going on at virtually the same stage, and taking slightly different fitment routes, be good if you could post up a few pics of your set, look so different to my own set, albeit, seems the same kit operational wise.

Ricky

I have heard mixed reviews of Forgestar in terms of ever extending delivery times! Brakes look good and "12 pistons!" you better strap your eyeballs in :-)

Which wheels are we talking about Sean, the Forgestar F10, that i quite like, qouted £1700, plus say £1400 for Michelin PS tyres, are we talking about the same wheels here..? My current wheels, no tyres weigh 17.5KG, these forge star are 11-13KG, this as qouted to my today, although bummer of 6week plus lead time.

Paul, yes I was warned of the delivery issue by the guys I spoke to this morning, this wheel really got my intersted from your own comments and Seans interest, looks a great wheel, and to my mind, relativily good value, but take the point, that delivery may not be as promised. I will see what funds I have left, the Brabus brake kit, has definitly added weight, so need to re address that in some manner.

Yes looking forward to testing the brake kit, primarily at GW in November, I hope it is as good as I anticiapate, or its back to the drawing board, weight!.

My fronts fitted and today I made the pattern for the rear callipers , was not easy as I think the waggon might be different at the back and had to fit the calliper 1'' lower to clear the hub control arm . Should get them to the machine shop on Thursday and the new brackets on Tuesday . Just waiting for my wheels to come back from having them strengthened .

looking good Ricky, my AMG calipers turned gold after my first Goodwood visit but have gone back to the original color, i think the trick is to try and use the brake less ;)

You are absolutely correct about the weight of the 19" split AMG`s we have, they are not light! This was one of the reasons why Lopes sold his and bought his lightweight wheels, but i think the 19" splits are the best looking oem wheel for the w211. For GW i revert back to my 18`s!

I look forward to seeing all the mods at GW! I was reading about snowfall in november, i hope thats not the case, else i`ll have to come in winter tyres lol!

Hi Ricky,

The brakes look great! Wonder what has added the weight - callipers, rotors? The front callipers were on par with those on my CL, the rotors were much lighter. Did you have a chance to weigh both?

Thanks.

These look great. 12-piston too? What car are these going on?

Alx, must say I have not actually compared both on a weigh machine, but just feels like they are heavier all round, especially with the bells. This said I will weigh everything when I get the kit to Ollies, both AMG OEM stuff and the Brabus, and record it all.

Marc has an E55 wagon his kit going onto. Must say I do like the CF inserts on his kit.

I agree mate, I love these split rim 19" wheels, I have two sets of them, (office looks like a garage!) but I need to buy a lightweight set, for the Vmax and trackdays, and then swap over and run with the 19" split rim wheels on the road.

Thats a long range weather forecast Alps, I do hope your not right, snow chains at lavant and woodcote, could be a little scary!

why 2 sets? do they appreciate in value :)

oops, I was thinking other wheels.

if Forgestar is truly a lightweight forged wheel, £1700 for all 4 is a good deal. Is that £1700 VAT included and also delivered?

I asked forgestar for a quote but got no response.

those 12 pot calipers look amazing, but they are very very very heavy.

When compared to the brembo 6 pots, i recon they weight more than twice as much, in fact, the full set, ie all four calipers of the brembo set up, with all four pccb disks would be comparable with one corner of a 12 pot setup with steel disk and steel bell.

You could well be right, I am going to weigh everything, including the OEM fitted gear, when the kits all finished and record it all, so I know where I am with this weight thing. But as I have stated previously, just my reaction to picking the kit up. I do believe it may end up putting some weight on, so hence currently looking to lighten the load by what ever means my funds will allow in the near future, but going to be fun trying this kit out.
