Brand new Hillman Avenger !

My dad had a green one.. was nicer than the red Alpine he had IIRC. Still utter rubbish mind you. I did like his Triumph 2500 mind you!

Take it for what it is, a well preserved old car. Which does look kind of unique on our roads nowadays. Id certainly not pay more than 2k for it though ;)

Good News: A mothballed brand new car from 1970! :D
Bad News: It's an Avenger!
I had the misfortune to own one of these in the '70s. It dissolved into a rusty heap before it was 3 years old. I notice the seller refers to contemporary road tests saying that it was better to drive than a Marina. Faint praise indeed: the go-cart I made as a kid out of plywood and pram wheels was better to drive than a Marina. Still, someone obviously wants it, the biddings up to 5 grand

Should stand you in good stead for owning a merc then , only difference being the price.

Are you by any chance the disenchanted owner of a bad post-1996 car? ;)
I currently own two mercs, (both w124s), one 14 years old, the other 11 years old, both rust-free. My Avenger's front chassis outriggers rusted through along with the top mountings for the struts; I got up one morning to find it nose-down on the road where it was parked, with the front wheels pushed through the lace-like inner wings. It cost me far more to buy, in relative terms, than both my current cars put together.

Unfortunately David , it seems that the majority of post 1996 cars are a little dubious , and certainly not was expected from Mercedes - I would expect a cheap dustbin to fall to bits , but not a "quality" car .

Its a got a choke... I havent seen a choke in years :-)

Good news for women - and their handbags  :D.
