Humm guess what i will be doing later

Gav, stick that monster on and the engine will need a scarf and gloves in these winter months lol

Intercooler update

I'm in the middle of the Intercooler install, Space is tight, but i've mocked it up and im 99% it's going to fit...... If not its a expensive paper weight lol

Whilst the front end was off i gave Brutus a good clean up including painting the crash bar, I know peeps wont see it but it looks better to me.

Also did the hubs, and various brackets that were corroded. Also you will see the difference in the size of core.

20mins and bumper was off, i've done this around 7 times now on w211 its dead simple.

If there is reincarnation, I want to come back as your car.

you will need to cut a couple of the bumper brackets that bolt the bumper to the car, near the HE, make sure the bumper slides over the new HE when test fitting.

other than that looks good!

Brutus Heat Exchanger Install Phase 2 lol

Had help from a good friend and forum member tonight, As tbf it's a 2 man job to line everything up also added idea's on bits n pieces.

I noticed last night that i could yes the 2x 10mm which hold the slam panels centre support to the crash bar to mount the perforated to which inturn held the Intercooler in place, Also gave me a little more space so the cooler is right up against the Rad.

Mounted in it's position we attached the 1/2" hoses to the brass connectors which i purchased separate to the cooler off ebay £10 inc post.

Then we offered up the Bumper to make sure everything would fit and not foul! And Yep we were all go but there is ZERO space for any larger cooler.

Refitting of bumper went fine, We called it a night as was getting late, We also going to bleed the system tomorrow and fill it up, finger's crossed on a test drive:devil:

Anycase here are some pic's

This car needs renaming from "Brutus" to "Trigger's Broom".

Nice job Gav. Have you almost finished getting the car as you want it?

Yes the cooler was the last piece of the Jigsaw, The car ran faultless over the 1k miles to and from Norwich i did over Xmas, I hit kick down for the very 1st time and it really flew, Pushed my shoulder right into the seat lol i was just left hanging on. Haha

I've experienced a e63 Bi-turbo and tbh i reckon it dam near as quick, It will be interesting to see what if any difference the Cooler will have on the overall drive.

There's just so much power it really doesn't need kick down, I just wanted to get back that evening a little quicker than usual

Another thing is i did a oil change approx 2k after the 1st due to the new level sensor and the car hadn't used a drop of oil either which really pleased me as i know these can use oil.

Very nice! Are you going to get a smaller supercharger pulley? I just did it on mine and the power gain is astonishing!

Thankyou for the kind words, It's already had the smaller pulley and map to suit along with the belt wrap kit.

One sorted car then! I've got an unrated Bosch pump to fit on mine then I'll get it mapped and see if the stock heat exchanger copes or not! I'm not sure if the s55 has a bigger one than the e55 as standard or not :dk:?!

Brutus is running a Johnsons Cm30 pump too, Not sure if the Coolers are the same between S and E class either :/

Well got it all bolted in fresh Coolant and went for a drive, Now it was 7pm this evening, outside was 2 degree's.

The roads are simply too greasy to give any WOT runs low down,We drove Brutus around 15 miles, Pulled into the garage to check for leaks. There wasn't any:bannana:

Cant get my head around it but the Heat exchanger/intercooler was still really cold to touch. The boost felt soo solid and punchy as it came through and the whole engine felt smooth.

The car is now dirty and ive got to put all the under shields back on as id kept these off so i could check for leaks.

There was simply no mods needed to the car to fit the cooler either and it was made to measure utilising those slam panel support bolts with some perforated strip to hold the cooler in place.

And oh the look of that big bad cooler behind the mesh grille just looks awesome lol. Job well done.:thumb:

Test drive in the day light :)

Took a day off work and Test drove the car, Power delivery is just Brutal, dont get me wrong it always was but Jeez it certainly feels ferocious.

I seem tobe hearing the S/c more now dunno why maybe placebo but didnt really hear it much before.

The cooler keeps dam cold all of the time, Kick down at 55 and it will just break traction uptill you take your foot off roads are so slippery at the minute cant wait for the summer.

I love the look of the Cooler in the front, anyway here is a few pic's
