W202 C-Class C230K
Hello

I am wanting to replace the manual gear knob / shifter in my car as its looking tatty and worn.

However the gear knob / shifter and the leather gaiter are all one thing and attached together.

Been looking on eBay for a replacement, ideally with the Esprit text and gear select numbers, but haven't seen anything similar.

Any tips on the best way to proceed? Any after market ones that would fit?

Thanks

Maybe something like this might be an option.

"A BRAND NEW GENUINE LEATHER GEAR GAITER WITH LEATHER GEAR KNOB COVER"

Anyone used / fitted one of these?

Many thanks

That would just look wrong,get one from a breaker.

gearknob

yes theyre a bit of an odd arrangement as the leather is bonded to the actual knob, the new gaiters may work but it could be a bit fiddly gluing them on to look neat

As used parts theyre not 10 a penny in good condition Luckily I found a very good one in a local breakers , most of the cars were autos but theyre common to both C and E Class try somewhere like Dronsfields who break a lot, make sure you specify the right colour aswell

Another option is to bond a knob of your choice to the stick then adapt a normal gaiter to fit

Looking on eBay.de and using this search term:

w202 schaltknauf

Automatic = Automatikgetriebe
Manual = Schaltgetriebe or Schaltmodelle

Brings up some more options.

I quite like these aftermarket Carbon Fibre / Effect knobs here and here, where you can insert your existing Merc emblem.

There are also reproduction items like these, they look OK-ish but are not real leather.

Original ones from the dealer are only around £30.

Really? Thought they'd be a lot more than that, I will call them in that case then and get a price.

Need a new steering wheel as well as the leather is all ripped at the top, doubt they are cheap though, probably a scrap yard job.

Cheers

There are a number of different part numbersw so you will have to use your VIN to get the correct one for your car, | C 180 | | Çàï÷àñòè äëÿ Mercedes | Êàòàëîã çàï÷àñòåé Ìåðñåäåñ, ïîäáîð àâòîçàï÷àñòåé äëÿ Mercedes ïî àâòîêàòàëîãó.

But using the first Espri part number @ inchcape brings up this price ANDLE - E Class 1985 - 1994 E250D - Mercedes-Benz Parts, Inchcape

I always recommend trying the dealers first before spending elsewhere.

Edit,, Ignore the E-Class 1985 - 1994 E250D part. That always shows for some reason no matter what car the parts are for.

Hi

Can anyone please double check this part number for me? A2022670211/9C05

I called my local dealer that is the part number I was given for a replacement leather gear knob / gaiter and the price is 148+VAT which is too high for me. If it was 30 or 40 quid I would have bought one.

Also they wanted another 13 quid for the emblem if you needed one.

Cheers
