Hi

My C240 auto intermittently brings on the red warning light saying excess oil visit workshop. However...If I do the oil level check it says oil low please add 1 liter of oil.

I do not have access to the a flexi dipstick. Is this likely to be a sensor that is shot? Has anybody else experienced this..

On my clk 320 everytime I go out for a drive after a certain amount of time I get the red warning saying oil sensor visit workshop and then shortly after I get the check oil level one.

The manual dipstick shows the car is full of nice clean new oil and the history backs that up.

I've been told the sensor at the bottom of the sump area possibly could be shot or dirty.

For now I've just left it until the next service is due. But I don't think it's a major expensive job it just means the oil will have to be removed to replace the sensor so I don't want to get into it now.
