C350e anyone considering one?

the Connect Me remote trip computer readings can only be displayed in either U.S. standard system or Metric.

So MPG 'may' be under reported if the Germans catered for the larger U.S. Market.

Why dont you change settings to metric, and calculate you self to make sure?
Or is it not possible to change?

I think you might have my car! I ordered the exact same spec end of June, originally advised September delivery then November then settled on mid February.

Still impatiently waiting!

you have impeccable taste in cars :) I thought my order would slip back after reading all the posts on here, but 19th Feb was first date they gave me back in July. It's good to see them starting to arrive now, think they must be getting on top of the orders now. Hope yours arrives soon.

Calculations show that the gallon is an imperial gallon, despite the setting being U.S. :)

You could use an app like 'Fuelly' to get an accurate MPG based on fuel drawn vs miles travelled. My Lexus CT200h typically shows 2-3 mpg more on the dash than is calculated by the app.

Did you unlock it and therefore inadvertently activate the pre-heat function? I've noticed that unlocking, getting something from the car and locking again can leave pre-heat on and therefore drain the battery. You need to ensure that if you have the pre-heat activated on unlock that if yo go to the car, you press the button on the dash to switch it off again otherwise it will carry on warming the car for the next 15mins or so..

After mentioning that I'd posted this question on the forum my wife informed me that she'd gone out to the car to get something.

Problem solved. Phew, couldn't be without it and I believe our maintenance contract with Hitachi would have landed me in an Astra or something similar. Thanks everyone for your responses. Lol re in laws. It's true.

Mine has been in a week now and not fixed yet.. Last time I managed to speak to anyone, they seemed to think it was one of the coolant pumps that had failed. I'm assuming these are pumps associated with ensuring the battery system doesn't overheat / freeze.

Apparently before charging will initiate, the car needs a certain signal back from both pumps, one appears to not be working hence no charging. The problem is that none of the electrical signals the garage were getting matched the wiring diagrams provided by Mercedes and the garage believes they are incorrect!

Mine was also intermittent for a while before one day, it just stopped charging. I did notice on the days it wouldn't charge that you could hear what sounded like coolant being pumped around which is never noticed before when charging.

You would hope they can get some fault information from the memory in your car if they plug it into diagnostics? Good luck, hope you get it sorted soon (and also hoping I get mine back at some point - really missing it after a week without!!).
OK, update on my problems with charging..

Car has been in the garage for 10 days now and they are no nearer to working out what's wrong with it or how to fixt it! It still won't charge when plugged in. Diagnosis of faulty coolant pump now seem to be incorrect as both fail test but are working, the thought is the spec is the wrong way round..

Latest test results indicate a break down of the insulation within the battery pack itself. The dealer has no real clue and is waiting further guidance from Mercedes technical. I don't blame the dealer at all as I understand the car is new technology but it was six weeks old when it went in, it shouldn't be that difficult to diagnose and fix!

I've resorted to Twitter to see if I can get the attention of Mercedes corporate.

Thanks for the update - mine is still in the garage too with the same charging issue. The dealer has lodged a 'case' with MB and are awaiting a response but still have no idea what the issue is! A little frustrating as I only received the car just before Christmas and its already been into the garage 3 times!

I'm starting to get more than a little frustrated with Mercedes. I understand that there can be problems with new technology but I expect Mercedes to step up and support. It seems to me that the garage are having to carry out one test, send results and then wait for further instructions. The result being delay after delay - my car was six weeks old when it went in to the garage, I don't believe I'll get it back before this weekend or even this month.

The loan car I have is OK but a significantly lower spec than the car I purchased and it really hit home this morning when there was a decent frost, no pre-heat capability and I have no ice scraper any more!!

My C350e now won't charge as it trips out the RCD on my switchboard.

Had charge master out to check my polar unit and they say they can't find a fault with it, they blamed the car.

Was assuming it was my old board and have been contemplating changing the RCD breaker but these posts make me wonder if it really is the car but don't relish taking it in.

Got a sparky popping round tomorrow to check out installing a Rolec home charging point he indicated that the quoted price of £195 was a starting point subject to survey. The socket will be on the other side of the wall where the consumer unit is. Has anyone had to pay much over the quoted roles website price? That and the government grant seems a lot of dosh to fit a socket..

This must be frustrating, I don’t envy you this.
After all the expectations, this is not what one wants.
Seems most people are happy and trouble free, so X fingers that they will solve your one soon.
Might change strategy on how to confront the dealer if it keep on giving you trouble, that’s what forums are for :-)

Presumably the dealer has attempted to charge their end with a dedicated car charging point, or charge it at a public dedicated charging point to rule out your RCD which you suspect, but Chargemaster discharge the suspicion and imply it is the car that is at fault.

Yep - I got quoted £800 after the £700 grant had been taken off and this was for the standard 16A. I needed a small consumer unit in my garage to replace the one there and the cable around 6 metres from it. I could not work out how that all came to £1500!!

I have decided to wait for the car and then will likely fit an outdoor 13A socket from my existing supply. The delay in charge time should not cause me a huge issue and I only have the car for 2 years so to me £1500 is just not worth it.

I too got an expensive quote (£300+VAT) for a Charge Point CPS EVSE 512. I already have the cabling/CB and the site prepared. So I did some 'phone "digging".

The CPS costs £660+VAT. The OLEV Grant is £700. I've sent photos to Phoenix Works (Recommended by EDF who on longer do this work). So little or no site survey is needed. It turns out that the fitting must include a meter so that OLEV can monitor the usage! And we have to pay for that!

But wait. On 1st March the requirement for a meter will end. And the Grant will reduce to £500. I gave up at this point and will wait until the situation stabilises after 1st March. I too can use the ordinary 13A weatherproof socket that exists on the 32A circuit.

Am I wrong to have the sneaking suspicion that there have been some folks ripping off some other folks over this arrangement? We users cannot claim the grant directly. The contractor has to do that because they are more trustworthy than we are....... Huh?

This is awful to hear about. The garage as vendor is directly responsible, not MB. But MB might not like the garage if they are being inept and getting MB's cars and servicing a bad name. Normally under consumer protection legislation and trade description requirements you could be entitled to a new vehicle. Just as if its a kettle or a vacuum cleaner. But only the "owner" could claim that so if the car is leased or is a company car then the situation is more complex. If it were me, I might be stamping my foot or even shouting (heaven forbid). But clearly softly, softly is better - especially if you have to get along with the people in the garage in the future.

Hope it's resolved soon.

Your thoughts are pretty much mirroring mine. I was exactly the same this morning when there was frost, no pre heat and my ice scraper was in the boot of my car!

I had a quick update from he garage last night: MB technical have asked them to change the charger and they only have 20 in Germany which are all allocated. The soonest they can get one (TBC today) is April so looks like in in the loan car for some time yet! Apparently they will do their very best to expedite which I hope is true!

I'm in a loan C class at the moment but, same as you, it is a much lower spec.

My car was doing this with my Chargemaster charger at home - it was tripping when plugging in. At work it was fine but not charging. Now its not charging at all (at home or work) and is currently in the garage for investigation (apparently a new charger is required!)

Nope - I suspect the same. I had a new boiler fitted when grants were available for them, some quotes were laughable and either they were pocketing most of the grant or they were buying supplies at a very different place to the installer I used & paying themselves a much better day rate...

Delivery Date

Well got my delivery date now! very excited.

Was ordered back in July and due in to the stealer on 29th Jan...

Saloon Premium Plus in brilliant blue.

Hoping it's a vast improvement on my "loan" C220 sport in black (which looks like a funeral car and handles like a boat compared to my old BMW335d)

Happy Christmas me :)

Good reading this forum has got me through the wait.

Update, the garage think they've found the problem. Corrosion in the charge port of the car and down through the cable. Also faulty charge control module, possibly also due to the corrosion.
Part ordered, new charge socket, cabling and module. Nil stock in Mercedes, unknown how long it will take to get said parts!
Good news I think that it appears they've worked out what the problem is, not so good that the electrics are corroding after 6 weeks!!
