I don't know if it's the same with the hybrid, but I have programmed my W205 C250 to hold it in manual when I switch to the 'individual' setting. I can play around to my heart's desire although it will still change up if I sit at the limiter.
Removed the annoying 30 second switch back though. Maybe worth a shot?
