C350e anyone considering one?

Oh no, I am starting to regret a little as the battery is huge but distance travelled is so little ?

Any experience owner to enlighten me ?

On the summer I was getting nearly 20km and last week I did an 80km trip at 4.3 litres per 100 kilometres, so whilst I'd love more range, economy is impressive.

Sorry - wrong conversion: 5.1l100km

Sounds very impressive on economy.

I guess I just need to run the car in and let the car adapt my driving to fully utilise this car ?

It's a very adaptable car. Fast or frugal and very comfortable either way.

saying hello & thanks for this long thread of information.

A man took my 520d away this week & delivered a saloon C350e PP in Polar White with Night Pack & Ash trim.

I think I'm pretty standard that I'm enjoying the car but disappointed in the economy. I had a demonstrator for a couple of days in the spring that had much better MPG, so I'm hoping some running in & warmer weather will help!

Yep, we don't have any kids & the missus has an XC90 if we need to do any load lugging.

The 5-series was excellent, but was a bit excessive in size for what I require. I'm still getting used to how the Merc feels a lot lighter through the wheel, especially at low speeds.

It's been a while since I had a BMW (had a 740iA until 2005) but having come from two Audis (A8 and S5), I love the C350e's steering. Agreed it's a big "powery" at lower speeds but I think it firms up nicely and - if you have the active steering DISTRONIC turned on - it feels grippy and firm when driving in traffic. I think you'll learn to love it!

Anyone know why the lead times are so long at the moment? Ordered mine late Sep and not sue for delivery now until the end of May! Nothing fancy just the standard car?!

I ordered mine in October 2015 and it was delivered in June 1016...

Things certainly have changed. I bought my C350e estate car from the dealer's stock back in September. They had three to choose from and I went for a basic estate in hyacinth red. Mind you, I probably picked the wrong one. For the last four weeks I have been driving the dealer's loan car (E220d saloon) whilst mine awaits a new water pump, currently on back order.

Makes a change from water ingress causing charging issues!

I thought the lead times would be sorted by now they've always varied massively by dealer.

Mine and my colleagues were ordered mid Jan 16 and delivered late April 16.

Just a heads up for anyone considering one of these as a company car, following a chat with our leasing company today

While you may think the increase in VED will not di;rectly affect you, it will ultimately as described by the leasing company.

Basically as they become liable for the increase in VED if the car is over £40k and the order gets delivered after March (which my one will be) it alters the costs, to the point where my order, albeit processed would have likely fallen out of the value allowed by my company, so a heads up for any-one dithering.

Me I have ordered the Diamond Silver c350e sport estate with Night Pack and Heads Up Display, with Crystal Grey Interior. (maxed out allowance) Was going to go for the real leather and fancy lighting system but happy with the Artico and the lights I will ultimately rarely use to their full potential.

First post, so be gentle, but hopefully this heads up will help others.

Manufacturers really do need to consider the nonsense that is over inflated list prices and then big discounts, hopefully this new tax system will put an end to it.

You can buy the following..

MERCEDES-BENZ C CLASS ESTATE
C350e 5 door AMG Line Estate

ON THE ROAD PRICE £37,695 SAVING YOU £7,740

That is a 15% saving, so why not just put it up at £39k no discounts?

Because unfortunately the average joe wants to feel like they got a deal when they walk out of the showroom so they can justify to their family / wife / husband how they picked up such a bargain...

Also it gives them leeway if they have an over or under supply of stock on how much they will discount...

But we need to change that attitude.

But when the average joe realises that because Mercedes set the retail price artificially high he will be £ 310 / year worse off then he won't be too inclined to buy another artificially high Mercedes. I achieved £ 13k discount (including £ 5k grant) on a car with 9 months waiting - I didn't think that I was a 'haggler extrodinaire', just that Mercedes were treating other people who paid near list as mugs. My list price was £ 46k so £ 6k above the threashold but the purchase was £ 33k, some £ 7k below !

But this is the problem with the car game at the moment, when ever you are selling your car a new one tends to have huge discounts applied which kills your trade in value, this leaves a sour taste.

More and more people I speak to are getting jarred off with it, dumping product into the market at massive discounts is not a good long term strategy, you can only do it for so long before people catch on and then they will never buy at full price anyway.

Consumers want consistency.

Plus Mercedes need to offer options á la carte again, not these packages, as on too may models it pushes it over the threshold. Interior ambient lighting €280 in Germany but part of a £3000 pack over here is a nonsense, especially when that package contains things like Pano roof that I simply don't like or want.

Hopefully these new tax bands will see a bit of a shake up when it comes to Mercs pricing structure.

So.. despite having a 330E Beemer for a demo at the weekend & really rather enjoying the drive (the inside trim on the demo was gopping though - tan & orange ambient light combo clash ! See attached pic) I've ordered yesterday a C350E without even a test drive (& won't get one until January) due to having to order a new car thru Leaseplan by the end of November.

Sports Premium+
Brilliant Blue
Privacy glass
360 camera
HUD
Drivers assistance package (the missus insisted !)

Can't wait :D :rock::bannana::thumb:

That sounds familiar.

I had a 330e M-Sport on demo a couple of weeks ago. Real fun to drive but as an all rounder maybe not so good.

Ordered a 350e through Leaseplan this week though so just waiting on my 'dealer spec check call'.

FINALLY had a C350E demo for the weekend to play with (ordered mine blind without having a demo at the start of December but only being able to have a demo in Jan).

I had a black saloon, premium sport pack (I went for brilliant blue premium+ on my order).

Impressions:

- Car is sexy inside & out
- Cabin is an especially special place to sit (love the black ash & made the right choice for me in ordering it)
- Whilst the Sport+ / Sport / Comfort / Eco is a doddle, playing 'live' with various modes in Eco can be a faff.
- That said I love Save / Charge for motorways for pure EV only in urban areas.
- Standard speakers are decent with nice clean high end & a decent bottom end (can't wait to hear the Burmeisters though)
- Standard sat nav was adequate but a tad underwhelming
- I found the MB equivalent of the idrive is really intuitive to use - except (& probably me) the only way to change or select tunes in sat nav mode was to hit the media button, select & then hit the nav button again - a faff.
- Sport+ is intoxicating (never had a car with surge like that when already doing in excess of a banning speed)
- Even in Eco mode a decent boot down will give you flight take-off pickup
- The drive may not be of BM standard but is very engaging & enjoyable especially on twisties
- Love love love the little touches like the blue calipers, blue light flash, blue plug in hybrid flash, the rear light shape, the boot sensor & buttons.
- The driver assist package is decent and not too parochial but does the job when tested.

The only downside is that I have to give it back this afternoon & go back to driving the DS5 hybrid until May (I had an email last week to say that my order is being pushed out from late March / early April to May) :(

Bottom line - I deffo made the right choice in the C350E :bannana::thumb:
