C350e anyone considering one?

I got my C200 Premium Plus a couple of weeks ago and, without having to pay the £150 fee, I am able to use "Connect me" from my Microsoft Windows Phone, tablet and desktop PC to check fuel level, tyre pressure, washer level, etc. I can also lock and unlock the car but the slider control used in the program doesn't seem to work on my phone although it maybe that I haven't yet learnt the correct technique. As I haven't got a hybrid W205 I don't know about those specific functions in "Connect me" but hope this helps.
You did not pay fee because you Have prem plus, fee is only if you have prem or lower

Hi, I'm new here so hello all.

I've just had confirmation from my fleet manager that my solid white estate C350e Sport (no options, rep special?!) has been ordered by GE and I can expect delivery late January.

I was interested to read the links to the real life mpg stories.....as long as I can average 40mpg I'll be happy. Surely not too much to ask!

The question I want the answer to is if I leave home with a full charge and drive 100 miles what kind of mpg can I expect?

Dan

Well, I guess it will be around 34-36mpg on a run if using just the engine, and you get 19 miles at best using electric, so based on the fact 1/5th of your journey is free miles, I would say around 40mpg on a 100 mile trip.

It is shorter trips where you will see the biggest gains. If you are travelling 40 miles 50% of the journey should (in theory) be free miles, so you could see close to 70mpg.

The owner in the link earlier, Dutch guy, said he is averaging 7.1L/100km, and he is chuffed with that, which is 39mpg.
I guess he is doing quite a few journeys of more than 20 miles?
I have a 2 litre X3 xDrive, it is 4WD and auto and quite a big car and my last tank was 48.9mpg, just over 700 miles on a 60 litre fill up, I don't think the C350e would have done anywhere near as well as that.
However, the tank before was pretty much all school runs of 8 miles, and in and out of town, 18 miles, and that tankful was 39mpg, and that is where I think the C350e would have been a better option.

If the new gen of batteries arrive, with supposed 60-80 mile range, I will definitely swap, that is the point where these cars will seriously start to get people attention. For me to get to my parking in London, recharge and get almost home again on battery will be very appealing.

I would be tempted with a C350e estate now to be honest, but not waiting months for one, far too impatient for that. ;)

Looking on the MBworld forum c350e thread... some may recall me asking a while back about if the c350e front discs are drilled/vented as i spotted it on a press car..

Anyway.. looking at the photos of the chap who posted his photos, it would suggest they are drilled.

Brakes aren't drilled according to the brochure. Let's be honest it's mostly asthetics, but on the basis a chunk of braking will be done by electric motor deceleration, they're not likely to get that hot.
Drilled discs are on AMG Line in the UK. Press cars often have different features not found on production cars.

yes, features on press cars do, however the above is not a press car. Its not documented on the pdf.

but... you say they wont get hot, but i guess with 280bhp, 1.8t kerb weight and a towing weight of 2.3t (which is higher than any other c class) maybe they could get warm??

For a private buyer, the costs for new disc's may of just doubled....

why has it taken so long?
issues with supplying the new 9g tronic gearbox and then restricted supply of 360 camera option, which I had to remove to get June delivery confirmed!

Fair enough- dutch registered I think isn't it? Different wheels to what we get in the UK too. So obviously very different spec's available elsewhere!
Also I noticed, his doesn't say C350e, rather- Plug In Hybrid on the back.
I wasn't aware they'd only renamed it C350e in some markets and not others.

Regards the brakes- I've driven some very big, far more powerful cars that don't have drilled discs. Yes, any disc will get hot- but drilling alone isn't the cure- as I say, AMG Line drilled discs are mostly to appeal aesthetically!

I'm due to take delivery of my CLS in that colour at the end of the month.. I went with saddle brown interior I think it's a really nice colour :)
My original post

Notice the quoted price from NHS fleet solutions today is now 70 GBP more than when my car was ordered on 13/5/15. Why is this - impact of the the £5000 GBP grant coming to an end??? My order is prem plus with 18inch alloys. Even the basic 350e lease price has increased.

There is no grant for that car with 18" wheels now ,,have a look at the grant news thread .. If I was you I would phone fleet make sure your order is ok , is yours estate

Ok so latest update on Thursday was still no delivery date apart from talk of December and no mention of change in price.

Ordered saloon. I will call on Monday for an update.

On the MBworld site, the owner of the dutch car purchased the alloys as a dealer extra, the boot model number was changedd as part of the MY16 change over, in, pkug in was changed to C350e, the owner on the other thread is getting the mb dealer to change it he said.

All the press cars were MY15 with the chrome inserts and "Plug in" on the right of the tail gate.

Not strictly correct.
Those already ordered and delivered within 9 months of grant claim will be OK.

New orders, there's likely no grant money at all, whatever wheel size, due to lead time being beyond 9 months.

I think you'll find that the criteria for the Grant has recently changed and all C350e's with 18" wheels no longer qualify due to 1 mile. For vehicles over 50g/km to be eligible they have to be capable of 20 miles on electric and the C350e has been approved at 19 miles - hence the lease companies pulling their original rates.

From 1 April 2015, we will therefore be introducing 3 grant categories for cars, differentiating between ULEVs on the basis of their CO2 emissions and their zero emission range, whilst retaining a technology neutral approach:

Category 1: CO2 emissions of less than 50g/km and a zero emission range of at least 70 miles
Category 2: CO2 emissions of less than 50g/km and a zero emission range between 10 and 69 miles
Category 3: CO2 emissions of 50-75g/km and a zero emission range of at least 20 miles
The diagram below explains the new categories.

Until 31 March 2015, all qualifying cars will continue to receive a grant offer of 25% off the basic price of the car, capped at £5,000.

From 1 April 2015, cars will qualify for a 35% grant off the basic price of the car. The cap will remain at £5,000 for all cars, regardless of which category they are in, until further notice.

In May 2015 we will commence a review of plug in grant levels. Following this review, new levels of grant will be available per category. We will communicate the changes as soon as they are agreed.

Manufacturers must confirm that a car meets a number of additional requirements before the car is judged to be eligible for the scheme. The list of cars currently eligible for the plug-in car grant is on GOV.UK.

From 1 April, this list will be updated to show which category each car falls into.
