C350e anyone considering one?

Think the new C class has almost every modern option and latest technology except 'his and her' personalised keyless go keys with memory function

My brother a BMW driver, harps on about the ability of the car to detect who's key is being used and automatically unlocks, moves seats, steering, heating and sets personal infotainment settings before you get into the car. (same with Infiniti Q50 I recently test drove).

Mercedes have had this feature in the bigger models (E, S etc) for at least 15/16 years, I'm assuming by the earlier comment that the C-Class doesn't have this option.

Something we almost never do when we first get a new car is read the owners manual.
It's usually when you come to wanting to know how to use that new feature but couldn't work out how to do it because the symbols on the switches all look like some kind of hieroglyph.
Well many of us have the time now that we've exhausted all the YouTube videos, to brush up on our knowledge of our impending Mercedes by reading it all online!

Now when you get your car you'll know what all the knobs and buttons do!

Delivery dates seem to be firming up. I had a follow up call from the sales manager saying it had been confirmed that my car will be delivered to the dealers on the 3rd Sept. The dealership were expecting 3 C350e's on that date.

@JBD - Quick question if I may...

How do orders get progressed through the MB network -

Reason I ask.. my order was placed before others" and just checked the status of my order and its been pushed back again yesterday from last day in Nov to mid December due to "part shortages".

Was due September when i ordered !!!!

Any insight as to why this may be the case ? Do dealer cars get priority over lease cars ?

Thank you

starting to get brassed off with my order now!

anyone on this thread actually got one?

Driver15 - I think that Dealer Allocated cars are taking priority over lease cars - I am buying mine but the guys I work with have lease cars and all tried to order C350e's from June but the list became closed - they are going for C300 Hybrids instead

Hi, have followed this thread since ordering a 350e (Estate, Prem+, Brilliant Blue, Black) back at the end of May. Dealers are currently telling me end Feb for delivery... I remain patient! (ish) Anyway, decided to join as thought people might be interested: By complete chance our fleet manager had a prem+ estate as a demo last week (I work for a very big company with strong eco drive) and he offered me the car for last weekend.
Overall, very, very impressed and concur with everyone's comments regarding power and how smooth between elec/engine - amazing technology.
But I guess the thing we are all wondering about - real world mpg:- My head office is on the west M25 and I live in Somerset so it had some long range miles over the weekend. Most tellingly the long range trip computer had approximately 3k miles clocked on it at an overall average of 35ish mpg when I picked it up... The best I managed over a c130 mile trip involving a touch of rural, lots of dual carriageway, motorway/roadworks was 42mpg with perhaps a bit more to come (275bhp is occasionally just too seductive!!). It seemed very easy to end up close to 30mpg if you were seduced too often... I suspect that the 'long term' mpg of 35 was very much due to multiple drivers trying it out and enjoying how quick it is.
Overall - amazing. No regrets ordering, didn't want to give it back, quiet and refined on the motorway, a complete hoot to open the roof and drop the windows and 'waft' around in elec mode. A bit coarse when revved out in sport and sport+ modes but boy does it go - the rate of acceleration does tail off a bit but only quite a bit beyond legal limits. Boot space on the estate a little compromised perhaps but it was just like the pics that are circulating and really not a problem. On shorter trips the high mpg's are achievable. Don't expect to get 19miles in elec but do expect a smile on your face. Regrettably wasn't able to try it on my regular 50mile commute to Bristol but I would guess you should be able to get between 45-55mpg - perhaps more.
Very impressive - stroll on February.
PS thanks to all for the posts regarding 'things to do whilst waiting' - made me laugh and I have too learnt not to discuss the car at home!
PPS I must have put 600+miles on it and the overall average mpg was still reading around the 35mpg mark... Time for a spreadsheet to look at BIK on fuel, business v. private miles and business mileage rates me thinks...

Thank you for that... very informative.

Quick question, was the final 35mpg after the reset it when you got in the car or the overall since the last reset / zero miles?

Thanks

The final 35mpg I refer to is the overall average mpg of the car since whoever last reset it. Ie after approx 3600 miles in total. The short range trip computer automatically resets itself after a few hrs (?) with the ignition off. I decided to leave the long range one ticking up to see if my stint with the car made a difference... It didn't! But as mentioned above this probably isn't a surprise as I was experimenting with all the settings.
Forgot to mention above that petrol only performance (E-save) is perfectly acceptable and feels quick enough. Again the tech' is amazing it still uses the battery to boost/smooth certain transitional stages between coasting and going back to charging. In charge mode it is also exceptionally clever as it stops the charging process the second you start to accelerate thus giving you the full 211bhp petrol engine. Only on the straight and level cruise does it charge.
Hope this all helps.

JBD mite know ,but as most are going to be leased and lease company's will be buy big amounts I can't see why

One reason could be MB UK gets more margin from supplying it's own dealer network (dealer purchased cars also have higher selling prices) than supplying it on the cheap to large fleet companies. MB UK doesn't have to sell it a a slim margin as the car's demand is clearly outstripping supply capability. - that's just a guess.

Received from dealer this week so I am looking forward to early October :)

Any one else ordered the 8 m cables with the car ?

I have ordered the 8m cable because I might have to charge in the street rather than garage

Yes I have. Socket in garage is on far wall so needed it over the standard although it might have stretched from hall but didn't fancy leaving front door open for prolonged periods :-)

Seen a thread somewhere about street charging - a wee Pandora's box. Can't recall if here or elsewhere. If only my hunger for knowledge extended to my assignment. I'd be a Chief Exec by now.

Thanks for your post, 35mpg is not too bad, I'd much prefer an easy 40 though.

My employer uses the HMRC approved rates which is currently 14p/mile reimbursement (I fuel the car and claim back at that rate). Based on £1.10 per litre 35 mpg costs 14.27p/mile so I'm OK with that.

I am hoping that with the 8 metre cable and a protector like the one below will overcome the problem of my garage not having electricity , away from the house, will provide a charging solution.
