C350e anyone considering one?

when did you order yours Quonker

In early June Rapidfire but I was lucky as the dealer already had one on order which wasn't allocated so could just change the spec etc.

Originally was supposed to be delivered in August but has been put back twice and it's currently in production.

It's scheduled to be at the dealer on 20th October, hopefully will be sooner but if not then it will make a nice Birthday prezzie!

Trying to decide if to cancel and go for a used V60 PHEV - 4 months old and 20 grand off list price.

After 4 months still not got a build date and dealer now says that their allocation is not expected until January at the earliest so delivery possibly nit until March 2016 - another 6 months!!! As this is a Company Car this is costing me an extra £ 300.00 in tax to keep what I have.

Demo'd a V60 and not bad so decisions decisons

I had a V60 for a few days and decided against it as the merc is leagues ahead in most areas. If you are doing loads of motorway miles, the diesel only version makes more sense as it gives a better fuel return as it doesn't lug the extra 300kg batteries around. The hybrid is better for shorter mixed driving.

350e...have you picked yours up yet??

OMG yes :)
If any of you readers believe that you are au fait with the handling of a 350e then you are to be admired :)
My advice in relation to the "Handover" procedure is to find a way round it ;)
My car has almost every extra possible and so you might say that I should expect to set aside an hour or so in order to ensure that what for me is the most magnificent car I have ever owned is one that I can at least get out of the showroom after the theatrical "reveal"
In comparison to my Jaguar XF the 350e is light years ahead.

I felt a good deal of sympathy for the sales guy that had the responsibility of providing the "handover" to me and my wife. Don't imagine that this is quick run around the features and a cheery wave goodbye, after of course the money etc has been sorted which is the easy bit.
From then on it is a degree course which I had no chance of gaining even a third :(

After a while it was simply too much for me so I decided that the only way I was going to get home before dark,it all started at noon, was to undertake to drive off in "Hybrid" mode and automatic. Only extra deployed in addition to the air conditioning was the HUD which I love, a big thank you to those that encouraged me to spec' it, and just power steer myself home :)
Whilst in the showroom just after the "reveal" I snapped away with my BlackBerry in a fairly amateur way, the results I hope can be seen by pressing the link below.
Have to say it is a mystery to me, must have pressed a button or something, how it was that the pictures were magically delivered as a stitched presentation which eventually I found a way, I hope, of sharing with you all.

Tomorrow is another day and I will try to get to grips with some of the car's features and also try to capture some invidual pictures.

Have to say there was a brief moment on the way home when I decided one quick blast could do no harm. OMG it is quick :D

350e congratulations !! Nice pictures.... Great looking car.....

That's on the ground floor in Westfield (White City) - I think that have a mix of 3 pin and fast chargers on the 2nd floor, as well as a whole load of Tesla Superchargers. I always end up on the ground floor though as there's more choice of bays and this row of 3 pin electric bays.

On the 2nd floor, the green electric bays are often ICE'd whereas the red Tesla ones are always free - maybe it's the psychology of the colours with green being welcoming to all!

These ground floor ones only have the 3 pin sockets, but they do the trick - plus they must have put a phone mast in the car park as I could still check all the info via Mercedes Me when I was wandering around London. There was a Twizy and another C-Class parked nearby when I got back, a non-electric version, tut tut. That's another reason for the 8 metre cables perhaps, you can stretch them around to prove you're actually plugging in.

Hi MM,

Just how does the charge lead locks into the car, and is it a physically secure connection ? Also what duration did you leave it and charge percentage before and after......

Thanks

350e, that looks very nice - electric blue?

I had my order confirmed today. Gone for a 350e estate in Hyacinth and proper black leather. I ticked all the boxes that didn't take it up a grade in BIK so it will have HUD, intelligent lights, driver assistance pack etc. I just have to wait now...

Dealer told me today that they are now quoting 9 MONTHS delivery period for the 350e :(

Well done and congratulations on choosing a 350e :)

BTW, my car's colour is known as Brilliant Blue.

Just remembered, I tried the 360 degree cameras today, magic :)
I was delighted to be able to park exactly in line with my neighbours "H" bar without having to guess or physically checking :D

Also I did try the park assist but that needs more practice. I did discover it only works if seeking a space on your near side so if you see one one on the other side of the road you will need to do a "U" turn.

Congratulations 350, car looks great, happy motoring and safe journeys. :)

That is such a long time to wait. is it because they are manufacturing the car SA?

If you indicate right it will look on that side and park without you having to do a u turn.

As you say the 360 is good for lining up in bays, and marked parking spaces, but other than I don't find it useful when parking. Also in winter, salt, spray etc. renders it useless until you clean the lenses, but overall an ok option :)

cheers, Steve

My lease company said the waiting time had gone down so who know which is true.. Manufacturing is done in Germany not SA tho

Well I was given the news about the delay of nine months by the General Manager of Mercedes in Milton Keynes yesterday. He simply confirmed the remark made earlier by a member of his sales team. Now either they represent the "sales prevention department" or we can take it that it is accurate information in relation to his business at this time.
All dealers have allocations and it may be that explains the position

I suspect you are right about allocations, the car a colleague ordered 2 weeks ago has been given a May delivery date. My current E250 is not due for replacement until April 2016, but given the lead times I ordered the C350e as early as possible.

I spoke to Greenoaks in Ascot on Monday, they reckon they could get a car for Feb 2016 if ordered now.
