C350e anyone considering one?

Meant November of course :)

I spoke to fleet company today and was put through to 'deliveries' which makes it all sound like its getting much closer. They advised me due at dealer end next week. I'm wondering if are cars in in the same consignment. I've heard nothing about mine being stuck behind others on a production line. Hope not anyhow.

Not sure re the bag, I'm pretty sure that step up is the loss of space vs the standard Estate and the batteries are packed underneath.

My understanding was there should be a small storage area under the floor at the rear (you can just make out the line in the carpet), which makes sense as the saloon has a step in the boot and the estates levels it up

hopefully Uuu will post some pics later.

C350e estate

Here are some pics of the boot of the estate. The floor is flat all over and then drops a little at the latch plate where the tailgate closes onto.

There is a small panel about 30cm into the depth of the boot that lifts up across the width of the boot - it looks like the area that is exposed in the saloon pics I've seen on here. Below the panel is a strangely designed bit of felt like trim (not sure purpose of it and haven't looked at user manual yet), however the charging cables nicely fit in there.

C350e Estate Towbar

Towbar was a nice surprise - really nicely packaged and done.

It is hidden behind the bumper, but when you press a lever on the tailgate lip (opposite side from the red tailgate close button), the towbar casting drops down - you then just grab the towbar, and lift it to a clicked locked position.

The electrics are located passing through the towbar casting - very neat. There is a electrical connector pin converter provided in case the default is not compatible with what you are towing.

To stow the towbar you repeat the procedure - press the lever again, the towbar drops from its locked position, and you push it up behind the bumper to a clicked closed position.

It comes with a plastic cover to keep the ball clean.

Congratulation Uuu on your new toy and thank you for posting the pics so quickly , now can we have some pics of her in all her Glory as I believe you are the first on her with an estate .

Spotted a blue saloon today on the M62 leaving the motorway at chain bar.

Anyone on in here ?

Will do - too dark to get any pics today, but it is certainly a beauty.

I am leasing from Daimler Corporate directly, I learnt that they ship the cars directly to a facility in Essex and direct drop the cars to their customers (mine had 8 miles on the clock). So, they avoid the dealer expenses and 'support'.

Only negative experience:
I did have to initiate and prod about the Remote Online 'App' "Mercedes me" to be able to see battery charge and do pre-heating etc.

What you have to do is pre-register at mercedes.me with some bio and the VIN. Then that info has to be provided to a dealer to align the stars so your car starts talking to you through the 'app'. Luckily my Daimler guy was located at a dealership and persuaded someone to do this - really it should be automatic in my opinion (leasers shouldn't be second class - but that's what I always feel when I get my services done...).

I call it an 'app' because as far as I can tell its a website - so it is very clunky to use, but nice to get into a warm car after watching Rugby training tonight..Hopefully they release a proper app soon.

Update:

I was using Chrome on iPhone to access the webApp- I have since used Safari and "save shortcut to home screen" the url. It has now created an icon on the home screen and the webApp behaves like a regular App.

I just now need to figure out how to activate the MB Apps that are mainly greyed out. However preheat, charge, range, unlock, car location etc work

Thought about the tow bar for bikes but thought the cost seemed a bit steep, however seeing the simplicity helps justify it a little but more!! Downside of ordering something so new and what appeared very unusual to most salespeople I spoke with.

My posts seem a bit all over the place at the moment, haven't used a forum for a long time.

Thanks Uuu for the pics and detail, must admit had assumed the "app"was going to be quite simple. My car is coming through Lease plan via Boston's dealer group so am hoping the app etc should be set up, however will be pushing this point over the next couple of weeks.

Hatchie, mine is due November 17th to dealer so am pushing for the Friday of the that week!!

I did think that there was a "proper" app or one could use a pc etc to access, I'm sure someone knows for sure :)

Had my 350e for three weeks now and have put around 1800 miles on it. I've never plugged it in and in hybrid mode it runs the battery between 10-25%. It only takes around 20 miles to fully charge it from the engine in "charge" mode. On a long 300 mile motorway run in economy mode cruising at 80 mph it returns just over 40mpg. Economy mode returns 38-40 mpg on my home/work commute in heavy traffic.

I'm extremely pleased with it and am happy driving it gently but, boy does it move when you put your foot to the floor!

It's got a great (standard) sound system too which you can enjoy as the car is so quiet.

Overall it's far far better than I expected. Definitely worth waiting for.

Pleased to read that you are enjoying your 350e, as am I :)
I am surprised to learn that a twenty mile journey delivers a full charge. It begs the question why would anybody do anything else, why bother to buy, as I have a charging pod, or pay charge master for the charging app on my phone ?

That was my thought too, 20 miles on the motorway in charge I guess would cost less in the additional fuel used vs the electricity to charge.

I ordered by saloon only 1 week ago from a main dealer, made a minor change to the spec today but was told that it is likely the build will take place in March with delivery March/April.

I expressed my concerns about rumours off 9 months+ ... but he appeared fairly confidence of a March build.

The dealer has 4 currently on order.

Come on folks

It's all well and good hearing about the economy and CO2 benefits of the car (and thanks) but surely there's more to it than just that.... Let's hear more about the gadgets and quality of the car, the performance and better still how about more lovely pics to get us not quite yet owners salivating!!! (Especially if you have a Brilliant Blue saloon) ; )

Mpg in Charge mode is very very low, I've found it to be in the 20's. On balance I've found I get a better overall mpg leaving it in Hybrid.

Re the CarPlay query, I had been told by my MB dealer that it could be out as a software upgrade early next year. I hope they're right and it's not 2018, CarPlay will be old tech by then!

.

That's what I wish for too, a software upgrade

Unfortunately I 'believe' all current Mercedes software are incapable of an upgrade. If COMAND operating system can be upgraded, then there is the possibility that CarPlay can be upgraded I guess.

When in sport+ mode is there away to keep in in manual for longer using the paddles. If you don't shift for a few seconds it goes back to D?

Yes, I agree that it is very boring learning all about BIK and employee benefits, I really do wish posters would consider starting a new thread for these and all the other interesting stories associated with the 350e.
If a thread is started "C350e" "charging" "economy" "colour choice" "employee benefits" and all the other topics that have and will arise this forum keep me posting :)
It is tedious and daunting for prospective 350e buyers having to wade through over 100 pages just to uncover a nugget. ( end of rant ) :)

Anyway MBrummm here you are, mine 's Brilliant Blue and has nearly all the extras and it is wonderful.
More picture in a separate thread soon "C350e, my car"

As the company drivers are by far in the majority maybe it would be easier if you started another thread for the exclusive use of private owners

Seriously I believe it's best that everything C350e related is kept in one thread and people just ignore the stuff they're not interested in.
