C350e anyone considering one?

As the company drivers are by far in the majority maybe it would be easier if you started another thread for the exclusive use of private owners

Seriously I believe it's best that everything C350e related is kept in one thread and people just ignore the stuff they're not interested in.

I do agree- yes please we need a thread for private owners.
I respect everyone here and like to be part of the debates but I have no clue as to what these BIK and Tax etc is about! :p

Can I ask the lucky few about noise levels ?

Many reviews criticise the petrol engine noise when it kicks in

In real life is it rough at cruising speeds or just at kickdown?

It is it just diva journalists hoping for it to sound like a v6?

Am in a 4 pot diesel at the moment so noisy acceleration is normal for me

Thanks

Yes, I agree that it is very boring learning all about BIK and employee benefits, I really do wish posters would consider starting a new thread for these and all the other interesting stories associated with the 350e.
If a thread is started "C350e" "charging" "economy" "colour choice" "employee benefits" and all the other topics that have and will arise this forum keep me posting :)
It is tedious and daunting for prospective 350e buyers having to wade through over 100 pages just to uncover a nugget. ( end of rant ) :)

Anyway MBrummm here you are, mine 's Brilliant Blue and has nearly all the extras and it is wonderful.
More picture in a separate thread soon "C350e, my car"

It's always good to have a little rant but sure this is understood. If like me, most newbies/expectant parents just want to know what it can do and how great it looks. Mpg, best chargers etc are relevant but I feel for anyone who now has to scan over 100 pages just to see a few pretty pics. (am I still ranting lol).

Anyhoos, I'm even more excited (if that's possible) having seen your blue beauty. Send me the link, send me the link, I need to see every angle possible : P omg I think I now need therapy arrrrgh :bannana:

I know for sure that the ICE is not contributing when I notice the Rev counter needle is at set at zero :)

I know that mostly, in hybrid mode, if I take my foot of the accelerator the rev counter drops to the bottom. So the answer may be that the so called journalists did what they appear to do quite a lot - they copied others copy :D

Yes, the mpg did drop to around 26mpg when I charged it from the engine. Once it was fully charged I switched back to hybrid and it was interesting to see the car fairly quickly going back to the car maintaining 10-25% battery charge. I agree, hybrid seems to be the best setting for day to day use.

Hi Chappers1. I read similar reviews but don't understand them. The 350e is much much quieter than my 520d was, irrespective of whether it's using petrol or electricity. I also find the switch between petrol/electricity is almost imperceptible.

Just a heads up on the remote connect, if you purchase through Fleet Drive electric they have confirmed that they will not disable the remote connect features

Is my fuel consumption being reported wrongly ?

I notice that via Connect Me my car's fuel consumption appears to be reporting the consumption in U.S. Gallons, as seen on the attachment.
There is a drop down in Settings offering a choice of U.S. Gallons or Metric, no other option.
I presume that if the figures shown are indeed in U.S. gallons I will need to apply a conversion factor in order to discover my consumption.

So, as I've mentioned before I don't charge mine using a plug. What is the best driving mode for me?

hybrid mode
Charge,electric,charge electric etc
One charge per tank then hybrid
Etc etc

Any ideas would be great as I'm only getting 300 miles per tank and it's annoying filling up all the time

I presently use hybrid mode and am fascinated to view the "bonus free miles" as shown on the Eco display. A recent journey of around 50 miles earned 22 free miles. Don't know yet what the tru mpg figure is so haven't calculated what the "free" miles means . Will keep using hybrid in order to understand the numbers.

Spoke to the lease company and delivery has been scheduled for next Tuesday :bannana:
Disappointingly they are still saying no to enabling Connect Me

Sorry to state the obvious but if you did actually plug it in do you think that might help?

Not meaning to be facetious, I also have primarily ordered mine as a high mileage company car but I would plug it in due to the inherent huge tax savings offsetting my personal electricity cost, my wish to improve mpg as much as possible to avoid embarrassment when my fleet manager queries my frequent fill ups and also because as an engineer it satisfies my urges to embrace the latest technologies.

Oh and also because I'm very lazy and love the idea of it preheating when winter weather really does arrive :)

Which leasing company is that out of interest?

Hi all,

Spoke to my lease company and they have confirmed my car is now in stock and delivery is scheduled for 3rd November. getting real now, seven months drags when your waiting for a car. Can anybody advise on extension leads for charging cables. Its been suggested a regular 13a extension would suffice but im not too sure. I have orderded the 8m home charging lead but if my car is on the drive in front of the garage and since the plug is at the back of the garage im not sure it will long enough until i get a permanent plug installed on the drive. Anybody have any idea??
