When I thought my C350e est wasn't going to go through I started looking at the 420d SE Gran Coupe, and with 18 rims added it went into the next BIK band. For me, the figures are a lot closer than that when taking into account the delays, but the Merc was still cheaper on a month by month basis, but MPG could of pulled that in a bit closer but not by much.
(I also have the option for a cash allowance, which i currently take.)
In my company scheme I can make a financial contribution towards my vehicle which reduces my benefit (slightly) so choice was contribute towards a Merc or a Beemer.
Merc P11D value will be £46400, Beemer (trying to spec to similar level as the Merc) was £39200.
Monthly cost to me (assuming 20% - its easier that way!) in 1st year (assuming 2015/16 BIK rates) for the vehicles -
Beemer - £210 (20% BIK - 114 g/km)
Merc - £138 (9%, 53 g/km)
By year 4 (assuming 53 g/km = 19% and 114 g/km = 25%) Beemer tops out at £242 p/month, whereas Merc maxes at £214 - so is cheaper, for £7k more car and +80 bhp!!
You have mentioned a few times 'cars over £42k'. Is there specific significance?
