C350e owners club

I'm on 2.5 -3MM's after 26K Miles on the rears. I'm trying to push it to 27K before a change. Its funny I don't even pay for the tyres and they have lasted longer than any other car. Hankooks have lasted well for me.

Every now and then I get a message about there being a better route but it disappears after a short while and I can't find how to to select it. The brief overview doc is no use and Google hasn't helped, so where do I find the documentation?

Press the scroll wheel, you have the options pop-up. Scroll round to the exclamation mark (it will tell you how many messages you have). Select this option, if there is suggested alternative route it will be listed on the left with your original route on the right. If you want to accept the new route you press 'go' and return to the map.

Thanks, not exactly a quick or safe process while driving. It seems odd that my old Saab 9-5 had an OAT gauge, better (touchscreen) SatNav interface and a SatNav that was ready to navigate as soon as the key was turned ... and that was made in 2004.

My Honda Sat Nav was better than the Merc's....and like you say it takes ages to actually get around to navigating, once I had driven a mile (luckily the right way) while it sat on calculating.....

The dial/touchpad thing is a nice idea but touchscreen is better and safer, it's one of the least intuitive systems I have come across....which given what car it's in is very wrong.

If you look into the history of Saab it was their development of a bespoke sat-nav that pushed them into bankruptcy under General Motors ownership. Perhaps Mercedes settled for something less damaging :)
I drive a lot of cars and to be honest I haven't found the 'perfect' sat-nav yet.
I hate touch screens because they are so difficult to manage when on the move (yes officer - I know it it illegal to operate a sat-nav while driving).
The Mercedes (Garmin) unit is a bit ponderous but it does perform well. It seems to pick-up problems very quickly and when it provides an alternative route it is normally a very good choice.

I agree that the Garmin identifies traffic delays well, but I have two issues with it:
1. It doesn't deal well with a delay that won't affect you, because the predicted delay is reducing fast enough that it will probably be gone before you arrive. Maybe this is me being too picky - I've never liked real-time traffic
2. It penalises minor roads too heavily when choosing a route. The number of times I ignore it because it's chosen a slow route is quite high. Usually it will try to get me back to the proposed route for a while, then it will eventually admit defeat, agree with my route and predict an earlier arrival time than the original. If the predicted arrival time is earlier, why did it not propose my route in the first place? TomTom seems a lot better at this

National Trust? They seem to be the only providers in the Llyn peninsula.

After owning this car for two weeks it looks like this will be roughly my mpg, this is mainly in hybrid with quite a few sport +[emoji39][emoji12] moments, very happy with this, just need to watch the points on the licence in sport mode

Just got my car in for it's first service today. The car was built in Bremen on the 9/4 and I took delivery on the 22/4. There was only a software update required for the high voltage supply in terms of advisories from MB. The point of post being that the water ingress issue on the charging socket was either sorted on production from this date. Or of course they are only addressing the problem with cars that have developed a fault, though I think others (presumably with earlier build cars), have had a fix done though they've had no issue. Anyhow, pleased to say 1 year of v enjoyable and trouble free motoring. Long may it continue!

Some news from EV Fleet World

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class plug-in hybrid was the UK’s second most registered ultra-low emission vehicle last year, outnumbering the diesel hybrid more than three to one, according to new Department for Transport data.

SMMT figures show 35,447 Plug-in Car Grant eligible vehicles were registered in the UK during 2016. Based on DfT information to the end of the year, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV accounted for 27.8% of those, at 9,844 units, and more than four out of every five Outlanders (83.7%) registered last year was a plug-in hybrid.

The Mercedes-Benz C 350 e overtook the Nissan LEAF last year, with 5,395 units registered to the end of 2016. That compares to 1,155 examples of the C 300 h – the diesel-electric hybrid C-Class – and 4,666 Nissan LEAFs during the same period.

Plug-in hybrids remain a preference among UK drivers; the BMW 330e PHEV accounted for 3,510 units against the i3’s 2,520, and three quarters of the latter had the range-extender petrol engine. Likewise, 2,842 units of the Golf GTE were registered last year compared to 36 e-Golfs, while almost a third of Volvo XC90s (1,600 vehicles) were the T8 Twin Engine PHEV.

By comparison, the Tesla Model S came in second behind the LEAF with 2,456 units registered, followed by the Renault ZOE at 1,761.

If MB didn't have such long delivery times then the 350e would have probably beaten the Outlander......

Interesting stats. Be more informative if they included details of company or private purchasse too.

A unexpected Brucie today that I thought I'd share for anyone who's waiting on their order.

I ordered end of November via Leaseplan (saloon, Premium +, dynamic blue, drivers assist, pano roof, HUD), and had an initial delivery outlook out to June, then mid-May, then 10th May, then out of the blue had an email today to advise it's in the country ready for delivery :D

Earliest delivery slot was a week today (27th) but I'm not available so plumped for next Friday (28th).

Cannot. *******. Wait. :D

I wonder if my car was on the same ship as I'm due mid May. There's been an update on my order yesterday but I'm unable to see what it is currently. The anticipation is bonkers [emoji51]

Had my first annual service at the end of March and they did the charger socket mod. They also tried the OAT software upgrade but it failed. They have since tried the full 6-hour software upgrade but that also failed to produce a temperature display! They have gone back to the factory to ask for new software and will get back to me. I don't recall seeing anyone in here having such problems or did I miss that?

As an aside it got me wondering what other software changes I would like (don't worry - I know I'm only dreaming as MB factory wouldn't do it)? Changing the Km/h to mph would be one...

Mine has been in twice for the temp upgrade. Failed both times. They did the charging socket recall and called 2 weeks ago to say they have resolved the software upgrade issue so could they have the car back for it. I asked if the 'fuse' recall could be done at the same time and said the recall didn't cover my car YET ! We agreed to do both when the fuse recall applied
I never had any charging problems. The dealer said they had improved the loom & socket for the E350e and so MB decided to apply that to all C350e's too

Two weeks ago? It was two days ago when my latest s/w upgrade failed - obviously the s/w fix has not reached my dealer yet. Perhaps they have posted it on a USB stick... :wallbash:

I never had any charging problems either thankfully.

Mine was ordered about the same time (Leaseplan as well). First it was April then June, then May. Add to that after not seeing another one for months I've seen three (two saloons and an estate) within the last two weeks).

I have a Reg number now, just need the car to go with it ;-)
