C350e owners club

Travelling back south from Warwick Castle a lorry threw a big stone up that hit the screen while i was doing 70, big chip with cracks in all direction which have gotten bigger.

Booked Autoglass for today but they don't have stock of the screen so got to wait a week.

This is the first car when i wonder about the replacement quality and whether it will have the signature on it!

I was impressed how well it held up. My 8th Gen Civic took a smaller stone at 40 and crackled all the way across the drivers side in just a few minutes after the initial hit.

I was told about the OAT update when I had a moan on Twitter to Mercedes UK about having no OAT on such an expensive car. I went to my local dealer as I was due a service and told them I wanted the software update at the same time. When I went to collect it they said there wasn't an update even though I told them Mercedes UK had told me there was. They said they would look into it, in the mean time I was back on Twitter explaining what had happened and asked them to inform the dealer. Shortly after had a phone call to take it in, I refused and asked them to come and collect which they did, job done.
That's the power of social media

It will be a 3rd party manufactured screen if via autoglass.

If you want OEM, inform your insurance company you want Mercedes to carry out the repair using OEM parts only to ensure the car is returned to the same standard.

Dont accept anything less.

If it's a lease car you'll probably need to return it with the signature on the screen, my boss had this issue with his S Class.

I'm on my third windscreen in my W205 in 2 1/2 years. This one has two chips in it and I just can't be bothered to replace it as I know it'll happen again soon enough. I'll call Leaseplan when the rain starts coming through...

All replacements have had signatures on them though.

Any done by Autoglass?

This one has spawned 3 big cracks in all directions now!

I think the second and third may have been. I can't quite remember tbh as I just call Leaseplan and they book the rest with me leaving my keys at security for my office (when I'm there). First done at the dealership at the same time as a service.

Definitely worth getting done then! Just don't hold out much hope of it staying pristine once fitted haha.

Hi Chuck, mines with leaseplan and covered by them. They used Autoglass and I was told it wont have a signature and it did not. New one lasted a week before it got cracked now its massive line across the screen so will have to replace soon.

Finally Excited!!!!

Well i have been reading the 350e posts with aticipation and interest for the past year, and im pleased so say that after ordering in August 2016, my C350e Premium Plus in Black  with Night Pack, HUD, 360 Degree Surround Camera, Intelligent Lights and Black Ash trim, is due for delivery to me next Friday 5th May:bannana:!!!!

To say im excited is an understatement. I just hope it will be as good as my 330d M Sport that im leaving behind as its been an amazing car for the past 4 years. However after reading some posts on here im sure the Merc will live up to its reputation!!!

Thought this link might be an interesting read for this audience.

Don't get me wrong - had my 350e for 10 months, love it, and am tied in until July 2019... but it doesn't stop me looking...

Coming soon: new electric cars - What Car?

So I just had a quick read and it states Audi will be offering cars with 300+ mile range chargeable to 80% in 90 minutes. Wowzer. Once my lease ends in 2020, I shall have fun choosing a new car!!!

This thread has gone on for such a long time that at my age, nearly 80, I am reluctant to go back( Search didn't help) to the beginning to discover if anyone has lost the indicator lights at the car's plug entry socket.
Mine disappeared a month or so ago but because the charging process is unaffected I have taken the view that I will not trouble about it until the second year service in October.
Would be interesting to discover if anyone has/had this issue.

That doesn't ring a bell......but I'd put money on it being the charge cable assembly at fault.

Pretty sure they will replace it at the next service for you as given the age, it will a candidate I think.

That will be the cable age I presume you are referring to :)

Thanks for that, I might pop in to the dealer and if it is as you suggest they may test it and order a replacement there and then.
Interested to know why you think it is a candidate, do they degrade over time ?

P. S. Just realised you clearly stated the asssmbly and I think that I may have wrongly applied that to the cable when probably you are referring to the socket ?

The charging loom on deliveries up to about a year ago is susceptible to water ingress and it's being replaced with a newer design during scheduled services. There have been a lot of faults - 9 out of 29 responders on a poll last November.

Thank you so much.
I will ring dealer and arrange a test.
Was the poll carried out on this forum?
