My car was in for a service yesterday and they fitted the revised charging cable setup. I noticed last night that the green charge light on the car now pulses as it charges.
My old one didn't do that. Maybe that's a way of telling if you have the new cable?

Yes, the ones from this afternoon. Steve's long list, CVT boxes, gearshift time, KM/H readout etc....
Mine was built 11th April 2016 and the green light has always pulsed. At the first service the garage said no work was required on charge cable loom. So seems it could well be as you surmise!

Gear change news.
Steve was talking about doing a double upchange with no joy. Mine won't double upchange either. However if you give the up paddle a long pull it will revert back to auto so this might eliminate the problem Steve has with it hanging on to high revs. More importantly if you do a long pull on the down paddle it will drop to the lowest gear it can. e.g D7 to M3. Great for preparing for an overtake.

I ordered (paid the deposit) for my C350e on 17th Sept '17. I've not been given a date yet or, even, a date when I'll get a date. Is this par for the course or is this something I can chase up some how?

Another possible confirmation of that then. Ours was a July '16 build and has the beating green heart when charging.

I think leadtimes are very long at the moment Nick, but they should still be able to tell you something, even if it's not what you want to hear!
I ordered mine (Company car, through Arval). I've been told end of May.

Ha! Well, I asked! My dealership have no allocation left. The couldn't or wouldn't tell me when they did have allocation but they expected some imminently. I asked how many they had waiting for allocation and was told that the list for my model was very short. He did say that expecting something delivered in March or April '18 was reasonable and as I was ordering an estate, it would be coming from Germany rather than South Africa which would speed things up. I did try to push him to find out when the allocations were given but he wouldn't or couldn't tell me.
I am having a similar story, ordered mid August, message from dealer via lease company about engine delays, was 1 March now saying 19 March 2018. May be we will get a more refined engine.....?
