C350e owners club

Two thoughts.
1. Are you certain you are looking in the right place, only reason I ask is it's not obvious! From memory select Trip and it's on the first screen which shows the odometer and trip mileages. At the bottom there are 2 values on the left and right, it's not either of those, however just above the value on the right in a lighter colour it's there.
2. If you go to the Mercedes Me web interface (i.e. not mobile app), and select Software Updates, then Use Service - does that show anything other than 'No software updates are currently available for your vehicle.'? I'm not sure the need for that update would display in there, but if anything does show in there then something has not been done.
If you discover Canterbury are not applying software updates I'd suggest once you'd made them do it, going elsewhere in future as you can bet their not doing other things too in an effort to save time / money.

1. I have looked at the menus and nothing is there :( I have seen it on other screen shots it is meant to be in the grey background above the time. On the third picture below
2. I went into the Mercedes me web interface and I cannot see anywhere saying Software updates?

Just a suggestion. Do you have breakdown cover? If so call them next time you get the smell, they may not be able to fix it, but if they can locate it then you have something to report to MB. Not sure what would happen if you tried MB Mobilo, hopefully they'd either fix it or take it to a dealer who would have to then fix it.

The car still has the 3yr warranty for it has inclusive Mercedes breakdown, but also it only had it's main dealer service B on the 14th of March '18, so it has breakdown cover with that as well.
I have called Mercedes Customer Services/Breakdown cover and they mentioned if I smell it again to call them on a day time and see what they can do lol ... not very promising.

I have Lexus breakdown cover as well... which came with the LS460 when purchased, although this is effectively AA rebranded as Lexus.

@greekCL Yes, above the time on the 3rd photo so I agree you don't have it. Sorry, always useful to eliminate the 'obvious'.
Odd, I have:
Manage Mercedes me connect
Mercedes me connect web app
Software Updates
Remote retieval of Vehicle Status
etc.

It's also the first one under Safety and Service, but if you don't have it under Show All I can't imagine you'll have it there either.

What do you get if you go to 'Manage Vehicle' (top right); Manage Services; Safety and Service, I get

Accident Recovery;Active; Term unlimited
Breakdown Managemen;Active; Term unlimited
Maintenance Management;Active;Term unlimited
Mercedes-Benz emergency call system;Active;Term unlimited
Remote vehicle diagnostics;Active;Term unlimited
Software updates;Active;Term unlimited
Telediagnostics;Active;Term unlimited
Vehicle Tracker;Active

Maybe it's only available on newer cars?

I'm guessing going to the Mercedes Me connect store doesn't give it as an option either.

Sorry, I'm out of ideas now!

Do you really currently have 7 cars?

Well I looked and looked and I cannot find it :( ... so I guess my car is not upto date somehow. I will have to have a word with them.
Ineed we have 7 cars in the household between me and my other half. I was not planning getting the C350e it kind of came out of the blue lol.
So now I am thinking which one shall I sell ... or a couple lol

Chris-S. When I bought mine in Sept 2015 there was a specific warranty document for the Hybrid system which confirmed it was covered for 5 years or 60k - I'll try and dig it out as I think the 'Hybrid' warranty would cover all C350e's until at least 2020 ! It definitely wasn't just a battery warranty

I was sure it was all covered too.....but when I looked, could only find the battery certificate, which prompted me to contact MB. I went through every bit of paperwork that came with the car too.

Be great if you do find it!

For interest. 5 mile journey on battery while very cold this a.m. (cold enough for engine to start briefly).
5miles drained 75% of battery which by my calculation equated to around 50mpg. So poor range, but if I'd done the journey on fuel I'd probably have only got high 20s / low 30s so still cheaper than fuel. But once I stopped thinking about the cost of the charge etc., it was a very nice journey in almost silence with a serene ride.
I think the trick with this car is forget the cost of the charges and fuel and enjoy it for what it is. Sublime.

I need some help guys.

- Regarding the outside temp update, again does someone know a Mercedes dealer that has fixed this for them? As it seems to be that Mercedes Canterbury they had the car in and they cannot find anything that will enable the temp to show with the main mileage display.

My car was a demo model supplied by Mercedes Newcastle. It came without the temp reading on it. It had to go back for something else sorting out and I asked if they could do the software update at the same time, which they did. This would have been around this time two years ago I think, so I can't believe any dealer can't do it now.

As you say it would be on the third pic down in the grey bit above the time.

New I didn't dream it - I have the C350e Sport Product Guide but I can't make the PDF any smaller than 5mb. The appropriate page is attached

Mmm, well that's interesting.....explains why I thought it was all covered as well - I must have seen that at some stage. Just need to persuade MB of that fact now I suppose. Or at least, I will, should it go wrong of course.

Thank you for finding that - a copy has been taken...and fired back to MB for their comment.

Car booked with Mercedes Canterbury for next week, a list of things. Let's hope they will solve some at least as the car is still under the manufacturers warranty.
The gearbox seems a bit on the strange side when at the end of a long day. I completed 240miles today ... and when I was coming back from London I noticed the gearbox being jerky on certain occasions, the car even kinda stumbled when the petrol engine started once.
mmm hopefully it is just a software update or reset.

Unfortunatelly these are some of the problems that the ECU has learned one driving style since new (from the previous owner) and now it has to adapt to my different style.
I assume it is as simple as that.

Hi,

Update on my car...

-Still smells
- Range shows 8 miles after a full charge now
- Still no charge pack after 2 months
- Only pulled 3.7kw to full charge today, so batteries are getting worse month by nonth. They used to take around 5kw from <15% charge.

Not much of an update really, prrtty fed up.

Try a different dealer? Or maybe do some DIY first, measure the cell pack voltages with a scan tool and see if there are any duff ones??

That does not sound right at all.
Does the car not come up with any error messages? it surprises me that the batteries "have detoriated" that much and no warning is coming up :(
What does Mercedes Benz customer services say about this?

I would write a letter of complaint

It's a lease car so I'm loathed to poke too much, the leasing company is the same people who run the local dealers (lookers).

The dealers say there are no faults and when I go to service this is true but I think that they have done no real investigation work as it seems modern dealers employ technicians not mechanics so if they find no faults when plugging on they think nothing is wrong.

The forum post with about the RCD tripping has some useful pictures may reference those.

I am emailing the dealer and MB customer services every few days but not really getting anywhere, I've been told that I will get a goodwill gesture when they sort the 3 pin charge pack (which has changed from ETA today to ETA unknown after 9+ weeks waiting) will be given to me whatever that will be, a whole new c350e would be nice.

Always worth the gearbox reset which is supposed to reset the 'user style' and then allows it to learn your style from afresh :-

Turn ignition on. Do not start
Press accelerator to floor.
Wait at least 10 seconds
Turn ignition off
Release pedal
Wait 2 mins

Good luck

Here's the Pod point charge history entry.

My colleagues car still pulls at least 4.7kw from a similar battery state so mine pulling 3.7kw only is always going to result in less range.

I hand it back in 13 months, I'm assuming by then it will probably show 5 miles after a charge.....a

I must be totally mad... as when I had the damage on the CLS500 (look at Italian hotel damaged my car post a few months ago) Lookers bodyshop had the most appaling customer service, if any! ... it took them almost 1 month to come back to me with an estimate after they seen the car, and then when I said OK to a £3.5K repair ... they told me I needed to wait for 2 months before I can get that car in if I wanted a courtesy car! Plus they never pick up their phone.
Then I went to Lookers to get my C350e ... again I thought I would give them one more chance... yet it took for ever to get the paperwork and I felt I needed to show them what they are meant to do?... hang on, I am buying a car and I should not call up to find the progress ... you are supposed to phone me. By the way no part exchange and an hire purchase deal, so for them is hot cash at the end. But ... still I had to chase up for things... even to be argued about the advertised satnav. I was fuming by the time I left the dealership. So close to tell them to cancel everything.
Before I pick up the car the salesperson had called me to tell me the lookers workshop ... could not find how to enable the external temperature reading.

Now we come to the present ... and I have booked an appointment with the workshop "again" for the external temperature, who know they might change their mind this time and maybe they will phone someone...?
Plus the list of the rest things...
- creak/slight rattle noise from the dashboard binnacles when cold
- petrol smell happened once
- wheel woble or break warped or shock issue?... something is happening when getting up to 70mph from the front right of the car ... esp when braking
- driver seat has a very strange part of artico leather worn... like it has been licked to death...
- gearbox changes from electric/petrol and low gears on electric can jolt sometimes..

Now this is their last chance to gain my trust to them ... otherwise I cannot word it to be honest it will not be pretty site...
I am going to be more than dissapointed and I would file any official compaint... and then my next car will be from the Lexus dealership which has been excellent so far, everytime you go there you are made to feel special...
With Mercedes Lookers there is a feeling I cannot describe... mmm like being a totally dead weight on a boat, that noone will look twice.
I was in the dealership signing my corrected for 3rd sales invoice, and the sales manager that has seen me, he did not even greet or say hello or aknowledge totally blanked me. Now who would call that people skills?

My previous experience with Mercedes was totally different, back then Mercedes in Romford and they were excellent with my CL500.

Some pretty sorry tales of dealer experience there. I can't fault the dealer I purchased from really. A minor niggle with communication initially with the sales guy, but overall, pretty happy. They were very prompt looking at my complaint about ICE noise when cold, the first service was handled well too.

Given any choice, @TheCorm & @greekCL, I'd be looking for a new dealer by now, although I appreciate that it isn't so easy on a leased car.

I'll be buying myself an ICarSoft scanner soon - I'd always intended to, but after seeing @greekCL post those readouts on the battery, it looks to be even more useful.

Just had the car charged while at the cinema watching Tomb Raider lol.
It was 18% when plugged in and it took 5.2kWh to 100% see below for reference.

Oh I will be looking for a new dealer soon trust me ... but I will not let it go without a fight first. Let's see how they handle my "first official workshop visit"
On another hand, the thing that annoys me the most with Mercedes... you cannot seem to be able to call the dealership and talk to the workshop... you have to go through some booking line.. waste your time to talk to someone who has no idea about servicing, and then you have to get the car in to be diagnosed, you cannot ask someone prior to taking your car to them.

I surely don't expect any charges regarding the visit since it is all still under warranty and the car is not even 1 week old yet. They have not mentioned anything about any charge about the courtesy car either. Let's see how we get on. There goes my Tuesday wasted already... I shall start billing them my time if I get nowhere.

@Chris-S and @TheCorm
In case you need a scan, I am happy to meet and run a diagnostic, if you're not that far.

Gatwick is where I take the car, the Brighton one is also run by lookers....the Guildford one is not so I guess I could go there but it's not somewhere I usually go, quite out of the way but if I don't get any progress I guess I may need to try it.

I'm near Horsham in West Sussex and work over in Haywards Heath.

How many times have you charged your car, I reckon i've done mine over 1000 and am wondering if that's where my issues are from. Given yours is older than mine and you're seeing a great battery capacity I have to think something is seriously wrong. My electric range is showing 8 miles after a charge now.....

For me the dealer seems to be...oh yeah it really smells, but we plugged it in and it says nothing wrong so there must be nothing wrong.
