C350e owners club

Guys need some help.

1. How many charge cable did your c350e came with?
2. Have you noticed that if you drive the car. Then turn off ignition and lock the car. The engine fan starts to spin?
3. I am facing issue with charging. Is this car AC or DC? In my case it is not charging and flashes red battery sign.

Thanks

Two charging cables: type 2 for public charging and 3-pin for home charging without a wall box.

I haven’t heard my fan spinning when the car is off.

3-pin charging uses AC. I believe there’s an onboard charger that converts to DC for storage.

With regard to the fan spinning when the car is off the battery pack has a cooling system and this may required cooling after the normal flow of air through the associated radiators due to vehicle motion has stopped. - According to that MB owners online manual I linked to the engine fan may come on during the charging process also.
C-Class - Interactive Owner's Manual

The coolant pump and fan fire up every time the car sees the charge cable on ours. Even if it is fully charged and plugged in, when I unlock the car I hear it fire up, but it then shuts down shortly after I unplug.

I'm sure the car only AC charges - the fixed type 2 plug on the car (nerd alert - it has pins, so it's a plug) only has contacts in positions for AC charge, not DC or 3 phase AC. The other locations are empty.

In other news...the ongoing discussion with MB regarding the hybrid warranty....had another response, this one to the copy of the C350e product guide that clearly stated ALL hybrid components were covered for 6 years. Got the same story, battery for 6, the rest for 3. This was my reply.

Dear (redacted),

Thank you for getting back to me. Sadly, the response from your Technical Specialists in now way addresses the clearly stated point on your own publication that, and I quote,

"HVB Certificate (Warranty) for all Plug-In Hybrid components:

6 years or 62,000 miles (whichever comes sooner)
All Plug-In-Hybrid components covered (HVB, electric motor, power electronics)
Exclusions: Tuning, misuse, etc.
"

Apologies for the formatting, I wasn't trying to 'shout'. I copied this text directly from the C350e Sport Product Guide NNID 2429.

Either your Technical Specialists are mistaken, or Mercedes Benz are not honoring their published product information. Information that informed my purchase.

I would be grateful if you could escalate this matter to someone who could perhaps answer this point.

Sincerely

Thank you for contacting Mercedes-Benz Customer Service. I am writing in response to your recent email, received at this office on 22nd March 2018.

Since receiving your email, I have made contact with our Technical Specialists to discuss the warranty document. They have explained to me that the battery certificate (Hybrid Warranty) only covers the battery, as per the warranty manual. The rest of the drive train is covered by the standard Manufacturer's Warranty of 3 years from the first date of registration.

I hope this information finds you well, however should you have any further requirements please do not hesitate to contact us.

Yours sincerely

Once it eventually reaches someone who is willing to say something, I strongly suspect they will just say "specifications can change and that brochure did not form part of our contract of sale" or suchlike. Still, I'll stick with it for a bit. Passes the time.

Anyone had a new one recently? I mean the facelift one with the blue accents removed?

I get mine in 4 weeks (its been on order since August last year!) and had to sign off that I wouldnt be getting the blue accents (weird, I know). Just wondered what the standard kit differences are between the 2016/2017 model and the 2018 one.

MB customer service is non-existent. When my charging cable fell apart (the plug that attaches to the car actually fell into pieces when I was pulled it out of the car). MB refused to replace it at first, but they folded pretty quickly when the lease company told them that wasn’t good enough.

I thought you had to specify the blue accents?

Mine does not have anything blue on it. The only give away is the badge on the rear and the charging flap. :) I like it better I think.

I confess, I’m not filled with warm fuzzy feelings that they will honour their obligations.

Mine went in for a new front bumper after some car park clown ran into it. Part was on back order so went through two hire cars, a new e250d and a 435d.
Apart from the gearbox in the BMW I would not take either over mine.
You certainly miss the swiftness in the e250d.
The BM handled better and has a great engine, pulled just aswell as my c350e (after remap).
If only the 350e had a gearbox as good.
Glad to get mine back and would not swap for either.

Want to hear the strange thing? :-)
I went to London yesterday, had it on sport mode all the way to London and then once I arrived at the London borders as soon the 50mph limit started I switched to E-mode I did 18miles on pure electric!!! :-) so it is possible if the car is nicely warmed up after a motorway journey lol

I received my 18 plate a week and a half ago. It was ordered last June! There are no blue accents. Don’t know if there are any standard kit differences as don’t know the specs for the 16/17 model. It doesnt have CarPlay though

In the small chance that anyone reading the thread doesn't know what "blue accents" means----
The C 350 e is differentiated from the non-hybrid C-Class by the subtle blue highlights in the intelligent LED headlights, the blue “Plug-In Hybrid” badges on the fenders, charging port lid in the rear bumper and most noticeably, the blue front brake calipers. I suspect this may vary market to market??

My 2015 C350e has no highlights - it was made just before they were introduced. I just have the model designation and the charging flap. The important things like the suspension and pre-entry climate control are hidden. [emoji3]

No blue bits for me except the badge. Brake calipers are silver. Maybe the blue highlights are overridden by the night pack?!

Mine also new at the end of Jan. No blue callipers or blue bits in lights. It does have the EQPower badge and the running light strips on the front light blue before going white.

Just seen an S500e AMG.

Not convinced that’s even a thing.

My 2018 E350e is the same - no blue callipers and EQ Power badges on flanks

Yep mine has just been serviced and this was updated. No idea what it does, but haven’t noticed anything improve.
I asked why with a full charge the ICE still came on twice last week first thing in the morning. They had no idea even after investigating.
The ME app has also been unpredictable. Several times the pre heat didn’t come on when plugged in. Does it work when not plugged in, as I have tried this to without success.

Mine has been doing that aswell I think it must be when u start it and your last heat setting was above 27c and outside temp was below 4, I might be wrong but that’s the only thing I’ve clocked

I’ve got a copy of the workshop manuals. From reading this, I think it will run the ICE, even when fully charged, if the transmission oil is at 0^C or below. As soon as the transmission oil is warmer , it will cut the ICE.

I’d love a copy of the manuals. Could I ask where you got them please?
