C350e owners club

The software update done on my car by the dealer was for the thermostat!

Anyway something must have changed with the update as I drove 50 miles this morning, mostly on M25 between 60-70mph, temp 2C and I started with 11% battery, and I got almost 40mpg!

That’s interesting. What age is the car? Or maybe more useful, any idea what version software.

September 2015. V8 of maps when I browsed dealer service menu last night, but not sure about what other software it's running. I just realised another variable has changed. I normally put in unleaded, but a couple of days ago, I put a full tank of super unleaded in because unleaded had run out at my local place. Do you think our cars benefit from super unleaded then?

Some people report that super gives up to 10% better mpg, which is about break even on the price difference but allegedly the super is better on the engine

Should have also said - I use super I’m my E350e and have averaged almost 45mpg over 10k and I don’t hang around

I see. I might continue using super then. I was driving this morning, using a lot of the performance available and some time in sport+ mode and I still got over 33mpg. Hmm.

I'd endorse 40mpg (as shown by the onboard computer for commuter journeys involving keeping up with the rep mobiles on the motorway. Have used super unleaded from new to keep the engine/ injectors, etc in as good a state as possible. Interestingly took the better half's 2 year old VW UP! for service recently, 5k on the clock, they were recommending fuel injector system clean for some silly price. I cited use of super unleaded which they agreed rendered clean unnecessary.
Interesting comments about the C200 hybrid sport Raspy. On paper that sounds like a good value drive train. However not read any good reports of it, citing inadequacy of the Peugeot ICE, it being particularly unrefined.

Honest John swears by super unleaded btw, along with 10,000 mile oil changes, not that most of us do that on the ICE due to running on the battery, my time is roughly 50:50 ICE: battery/coasting.

So my current tank which is almost empty, was Sainsbury's Super. I'm very impressed. This morning, I've driven over 100 miles (started at 5am with 10% battery), mostly in Eco, on a mix of 20/30/40/50 roads in London where traffic was flowing, and about 40 of those 100 miles were on motorway with a lot of Sport+ use, and dash is reporting 34mpg, and have returned home with 30% charge. The car does seem a bit nippier too.

I will be filling up with Tesco Momentum today, and curious if that has the same effect as Sainsbury's Super.

Radio repetition repetition
The radio in my C350E occasionally repeats a few seconds, This doesn't happen with a digital radio in the house or when using the PC so I'm wondering whether there's a timing problem in the car radio.
Is this a common problem?

I live in an area with poor DAB signal. When I drive back up from town often get this effect. Seems to be car switching from FM to DAB. DAB seems to have a slight lag over FM. Same effect as you get if one TV is on digital from roof aerial and tv in adjacent room on SKY from the box. SKY is a little behind terrestrial tv. Annoys me when both TVs on same channel eg BBC1 as you hear the same words with a delay between one set and the other.

That's interesting - I hadn't realised that the radio would auto-switch between DAB and FM. It would explain the effect.

My command unit never connects to my phone Internet, its worked twice since I got the car about 8 months ago, has anyone had any issues with this

I get this, but the DAB/FM idea hadn’t occurred to me. I will try to pay attention to the screen next time I have the radio on.

I don’t have COMAND, but Mercedes Me has been unresponsive for about a day now. Not had a problem with it for ages before yesterday.

Got it back about an hour ago. Hopefully the same for you?
Today is the first time I've needed it since the weekend. Pre-heat working fine again
