C350e owners club

As this seem's to be an active area.
Have developed a problem with my E350e, wondering if anyone else has experienced it?

The car is chewing through so much battery power when parked.
I understand all car's do a little, for alarm etc.
However it has started running itself down to 2%, and I get a app notification and email.
Working out when parked and not charging using 4% battery an hour.

This is a new thing and I do find it excessive, if I was unable to charge at home. It would have run itself to 0 by now.

Any thoughts?

Doesn't sound right at all.

Do you use pre-heat? Mine will refuse to if the battery is below about 10%.
I don't think I've ever seen mine below about 6% and that was when the garage had it and I presume they had the doors open or ignition on etc doing 'stuff'.

The battery the car drives on is different from the battery which maintains the radio/alarm/clock etc.

Under parked conditions the battery you are talking about shouldn't be losing anything. You need to take it back for checking out.

After-market offerings for the SatNav?
I'm tired of the routes suggested by the SatNav in my 2017 C350e and would like to be able to connect the phone and use the display with google maps, like I believe is possible with MY2018/19 cars. Has anyone seen an after-market mod offering that will enable this?

Velcro your phone to the infotainment screen?

No - I haven’t checked this out, but I do often run TomTom or Google maps on my phone instead or as well as the inbuilt Garmin Nav. I’m not that impressed by CarPlay or Auto.

Has anyone else stopped receiving traffic info on their satnav? My subscription is in date but the info stopped last week and hasn't come back on. Just wondering if it's my car, or the system is down again.

Thanks for the reply's confirming it's not right.
Booked in for a weeks time, hopefully it is covered under the batteries warranty, being under both 60,000 mile and 6 years old.

You’re definitely not the first to report this. There’s a thread on this forum that mentions it. Common problem with a fuel pipe...

mine 3 months out of warranty, could be expensive
They should rectify it for free when you tell them it is a well known fault and is a design problem - not something caused by ‘fair wear & tear’ - just normal usage. Take a copy of some of the posts on here to prove others have had the same problem

Just returned from a 350 mile round day trip from London to Brugge in Belgium. When I've done that trip in the past, it's normally been in a bigger luxury vehicle with a longer wheelbase, so I wasn't too sure how my car would compare.

However, I was very impressed by the C350e. The combination of effortless acceleration, Airmatic and Tidal hifi quality music over BT audio with the Burmeister sound system made it a really lovely journey, for my passengers too. The Distronic Plus with steering assist made a huge difference in terms of making the journey less tiring. I pretty much used it 90% of the time on the motorway sections and average speed sections. Everyone around me at Dover was buying reflectors to put on their headlamps, but with a couple of clicks using the steering wheel buttons, I was able to set my Intelligent LED headlamps for driving on the other side of the road.

I have to say that as soon as I started driving on the French autoroute, I noticed a huge difference compared to UK motorways. The road surface seemed to be different, because the ride quality and road noise were so much better compared to driving on UK motorways. I'm so glad I chose this car over the poverty spec lease BMW 330e cars that were my alternative choice when choosing a PHEV last year.

Hi all, first post here. Just bought a 2.5 year old used C350e and having had a couple of teething issues (such as the fuel smell which has now been fixed) there is something that is a minor annoyance. Having scoured every forum I can find, I can’t find a way of preventing the engine switching off when I’m trying to preserve the battery for later town driving. If I use e-Save it tries to recharge the battery (which I don’t want). If I use Sport the engine stays on but then it stays in a lower gear unless you use the paddles to change up. If I put it in manual mode via the paddles it reverts to auto after about 10 seconds. Is there a way to save the battery other than these methods?
Other than that loving the car (other than the disappointing amount of creaks and rattles...)

E-SAVE doesn't directly charge the battery but does use regeneration. E-SAVE will use the engine at all appropriate times and only switch it off when you are coasting or on a very light throttle. This is the mode you want for what you describe. I use it regularly as I live somewhere very cold and hilly so starting off on battery power soon depletes it for me.

If you don't like E-SAVE, the only other thing you could try is leaving it in HYBRID and using the ECO mode.

CHARGE is the mode with charges the battery using the engine. This can have a negative impact on petrol consumption. It's not too bad on a motorway run, but not recommended around town.
