C350e owners club

Wow, great nice very low mileage there! so in these past 4years have you had any repair problems, even if covered under the 3yr warranty?
A few recalls, but the only thing that has failed is the left rear door handle LED at 4 years, so I'm on my own with that one. Given just how little use it has had, I think that’s pretty damned poor TBH, but it’s trivial and I don’t think I’ll bother about it the moment. i might DIY it if I get bored at some point. It’s an expensive repair simply because the door has to be pretty extensively stripped to get at it. Part itself is about £15.

Well not sure what help you need,I suspect you bought the C350e because it seemed great value, lets fact it a £40 grand plus car down to 15 grand for a 66 reg must seem like a good deal, but as I suspect you will find in this thread, that repairs can be expensive, and the distance you can drive on the electric is small, the car itself is fine, but always you have the thought that the battery may well need replacing or at least expensive repairs to the system that runs it, all that leaves the trade stone cold, and so the depreciation is great.
Just a thought but at £15 grand for a 66 plate just what is the trade buying them at,given that they might have to repair something and give a warranty most of the cars they get are ex lease or from main dealers so £13 grand is my guess.
But for those willing to take the risk it is a lot of car for the money.
Had a WBAC valuation on mine yesterday for a laugh. £15k, but of course, you know they’d find lots of defects to knock that down, despite the fact it’s mint (apart from the door handle LED)

Thanks for all your feedback, much appreciated as I’m new owner and have read a lot of pros/cons on this car on this forum, though I must say in the one year i’ve had it it’s been great with no issues at all.I was just researching if it’s a car one would keep with minimal running costs as it approaches plus 60,80,100K Miles.

My car is five years old, so I have renewed the original warranty twice now. £499 per year.

There are other far more expert voices on the forum, but, as a punter, I can't imagine any dealer trying to resell a £13k car on a £2k margin.

£11k towards £15k more like - just a bit less than 50% markup (30% margin).

Every six year old car needs something reparied, storage, financing, detailing, cleaning, salesman's commission, overheads, some kind of warranty. and VAT Most vehicles will do a bit better, but some trades involve the dealer taking a bath.

Booked the car in for an automatic transmission oil change at the local MB dealer next week. I’ll keep you guys posted with the result.
Anyone knows what technology they use for the oil change in automatic gearboxes? Do they actually wash through the whole unit using a special pump designed for this and drain the entire load?
The old school ‘remove the screw and let it dripping’ method will only drain 40-70% of the old oil, the rest of it would remain inside. Just want to make sure they do it properly with the right equipment.

Do you mind me asking what mileage you got in the minute?

Nearly 83k miles.
Thanks, have you had this car for a long time,I’m just curious on its reliability and cost effective maintenance, any problems you’ve had? I’m new owner of one such C350e 66 plate 48k miles and only done 4k in the 1year I’ve had it with no problems.

Put petrol in the car last March in readiness for a trip to the airport....well, we all know what happened next......anyhoo, getting close to having to go and get some more now.

Yes, this is 1 years use on the same tank of fuel.

As you can probably guess, we don't use it much and we don't go very far......which further contributes to my ire at my decision to buy it in the first place.

It’s the ‘trip’ page on MercedesMe on iOS. It might be part of a paid bundle...I can’t recall. I only really wanted pre-entry climate control and charge info when I renewed but had to buy more than I wanted.

Hey Guys,

Does anyone know where to find an AMG style rear bumper for the C350E? I'm searching high and low without results atm and it's infuriating as I know they are somewhere lol.

It’s also a 66 plate car (registered in January 2017), I bought it in last August, there was 79,5k miles on the clock. The car was already at the dealership during the first lockdown and the starter battery didn’t like this 3 months closure so shortly after I bought the car the battery died. Then the transition between EV and ICE mode started playing up and the starter motor died as well in the end. Both issue were rectified by the dealership (MB did the actual job) since then I have no problems. Even though the first few months didn’t start very well, I still love the car and everything seems to be ok now. The propshaft coupling started to split and needs to be replaced soon but its just the curst of rear wheel drive cars. The gearbox is a little bit jerky at the first start when switching from 2nd to 3rd gear but after the first 50 metres there are no more jerks and some people have this issue with the 7G-Tronic Plus since brand new...I’m looking forward the gearbox oil change next week.

Many thanks for those finer details, much appreciated.

I was driving this morning on E Save mode (and Comfort) on a stretch of motorway and the yellow engine warning light came on. Didn't go into limp mode and no noticeable impact on either performance or consumption.

Opened the manual and advice is basically to bring in to MB to look at. Apart from the obvious issues listed in the manual or a sensor failure, one possible explanation from the manual that is puzzling me a little is the:

"The emission limit values may be exceeded and the engine may be running in emergency mode".

Does anybody have an idea what this means? Is this even applicable to the C350e (could be a diesel related issue for example)? This may not be the issue I have but wouldn't mind investigating in case there is a simple reset solution that could save me a trip!
Hi all, finally got this issue resolved. Turned out that the thermostat needed to be replaced. Done under warranty. Got my car back today and returned the 5 series Bmw which I was happy to have as a replacement. Apart from the C350e now feeling small in comparison, I am delighted to have my car back. The refinement (even with the ICE on) compared to the diesel bmw reminded me why I bought it in the first place.

I’m glad to hear your car is back and all sorted! I had a 2016 - 5 series before the C350e, I’m still shocked about the difference in built quality. The F10 felt so cheap and flimsy compared to the W205/S205 even though they belong to two different size-category but the C-Class still outperforms it in this regard.

Happy you got it all sorted under warranty! What’s your car’s year and mileage ?
