C350e owners club

Hi all,

Problem here with the pre-entry climate control fan/blower not working when unlocking the car or setting departure time. Hybrid battery is fully charged.

Hopefully just a fuse issue which I'm happy to *try* replacing myself.

Has anybody had this issue before?

I notice that there are a couple of fans mentioned in the fuse diagram. Is it one of these?
  • Fan motor (600 W / 850 W)
  • Fan motor (1000 W)
  • Audio/COMAND display
    Audio equipment fan motor
  • Blower regulator
  • Booster blower electronic blower regulator

Or is the fan/blower not working because the PTC heater isn't working? The red light illuminates below the button nothing else.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is driving me mad.

Anybody?

Does the fan work in normal use?

Make sure you have AUTO and AC switched on, and a temperature of 21 or more set inside the car.

Question for fellow drivers:
Does your % El Power show a number other than 0?
By that I mean in the e drive/charge readout beneath the rev counter?
Mine just shows 0 the whole time?
Got the same issue ….there is no lights coming under this display .Any suggestions or advise to resolve this issue ??

The 0 doesn't change. That's a fixed graphic. There should be a swingometer lighting up beneath it.

Hi all, I've been scratching my head in terms of what to replace my S212 E500 if and when the time comes. I was watching E43's drop below £25k but my wife's badgering me to get something a bit more sensible so I've been vaguely considering a hybrid. Also, my son's off to uni soon so long family drives are going be a lot less common so I could drop down a size or two. Mileage is 4-5k a year. Probably 75%+ of all trips are short urban ones (I live in London Zone 2), I have a drive and can install a charging point.

One thing I particularly like about my 212 (and the 212 that came before it) is the Airmatic and when I did a search for "the smallest car available on air" the answer was the C Class. And it's standard on the 350e. Bingo.

Budget's £20-£25k.

£22k would get me into a 2017-ish model with, say 40 or 50k and lots of toys - like the one in the link below. I love it in Tanzanite on the 5 spokes (funny that....) and with a pano. Obvs I'd wait for one with all the toys - Burmester, cameras and (if possible) Distronic although none of them seem to have that listed.

I'm assuming the battery would be at 70% or less but am not that bothered - I can easily top it up.

What's the consensus on something like this bearing in mind I tend to hang on to my cars for 5 years plus? Will the battery just become a huge liability? Should I up the budget and get something newer?

What's the consensus on something like this
I've had my C350e Sport estate since new in 2017, the mileage is currently just below 60k miles ... it's a great car but would be better with a little less performance and a little more EV range. I forget the reported battery level but it hadn't degraded by much at the last service. When I ordered it I added the magic headlights (can't recall their name but they contain gazillions of mirrors and, using the radar/camera, track objects so most of the road gets main beam and other cars get blacked-out) and they're definitely worth looking for .... just found the quote for the bits I added:
designo Hyacinth Red Metallic £745.83
Crystal Grey Leather £662.50
Black open-pore ash wood trim Analogue Clock included with trim £162.50
Headlamps - LED intelligent Light System Adaptive High Beam Assist £454.17

I've been thinking about replacing it, possibly with a RAV4 PHEV, but have decided to keep it for another year.

Hello,
I have a 2016 350e with 88.000 miles on the tacho. Batttery capacity is now down to 70% but the quality measure is 88%. I only run shorter distances too and therefor I charge the battery several times during a day. I asked for a battery rebulid quote here in DK and was quoted about 5K£ for a battery rebuild. I have decided to continue driving with the existing battery as it seems that's only winter performance that's significantly affected.

C 350e Plug-in Hybrid (2015–2019)

C 350 e Plug-in Hybrid

A plug-in hybrid version was introduced at the January 2015 North American International Auto Show, available in both Saloon and Estate variants.[15] The C 350e plug-in hybrid is powered by a four-cylinder gasoline engine, in conjunction with a 60 kW electric motor, delivering a total system output of 205 kW (275 hp) and torque of 600 N⋅m (443 lb⋅ft). The motor is powered by 6.2 kWh lithium-ion battery delivering an all-electric range of 31 km (19 mi), CO2 emissions of 48 g/km and a fuel consumption of 2.1 L/100 km (130 mpg‑imp; 110 mpg‑US) under the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC). The C 350e has a haptic accelerator pedal.[16]

In 2018, Mercedes-Benz released another plug-in hybrid C 350 – but this time it is a variant with a diesel engine.[17]
??? MAYBE WE DID'T GET THE DIESEL HYBRID??? because the original C class diesel 300h {non plug-in} was beset with problems?

Did they stop making C Class hybrids or just call them something else?
In 2022 they introduced the new C300e and C300de models. The battery range is 100 km+ and the car is 300 kg heavier compared to the c350e. The airmatic is only on the rear wheels. The chassis is a bit bigger compared to C350e.

Thanks. I've got the earlier Bi Xenon ILS and love it - the LED set up is supposed to be a lot better.

Thanks. Looks like battery refurb costs are starting to drop a little which is good news.

Thanks PGL, really useful. I like the idea of the longer range; I could run mine for a week or two in London between charges.

I could possibly bin off my wife's Fiat 500 entirely and have just one car for both short and long trips.

Hmmmm....

+1 The nonsense about batteries being unrepairable monoliths that have to be junked is already being disproved. It's still early days but there are all kinds battery / EV specialists opening up to do battery refurbishment and repair. Initially its more typically a fix and return but it's opening up to exchange deals and inevitably to upgrades (more power).

Which is good on the battery front. BUT.... the bad news for pure EV owners is that there's plenty of evidence around of EV's, and especially a well-known American brand, being written off after minor shunts because they're deemed uneconomic to repair. Because of wiring and control system repairs, expertise and parts availability.

I have a 2016 (Premium Plus) with similar spec to what you are after but with 95k on the clock. I don't know what percentage the battery currently is but in winter I am lucky if I get 6 miles showing on a full charge. With the heater and heated seats on that very quickly diminishes and I maybe get 4 miles out of it. Summer is much better but possibly 11 or 12 miles max. Luckily town for me is about a 3 mile round trip, but I do a lot of recharging at home. Check that any car you look to buy has a full charge when you test drive and run it for a good few miles to see how quickly you lose battery.
Rebuilds/exchange batteries and especially an upgrade would make this an awesome car. I hope mine still has at least another 100k in it and would definitely look at sorting out the battery if it became economical.

Hello all :) would it be possible to add and extra battery by piggy back, I can pick up a s/hand battery for £750, I'm thinking I can bolt it on top of the old one and just join all the wires so they match, all I'd be doing is increasing the amps that should give me double range plus double charge time, I haven't bought it yet I'm asking if it's possible before I start, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,
I am new to this forum.
I am looking into buying an used 2017 Mercedes-Benz C Class C350 E SPORT PREMIUM PLUS from a dealership. It's currently got one previous owner and and has 68k mileage. From MOT check everything seems fine. I did a test drive of the car and can't spot anything strange/unusual both in comfort mode and sport mode.
Is anyone able to advice on if there is anything I should look out for, specifically, buying at this mileage range for this car?
Thanks
