C350e owners club

I'm not aware of any setting in the car that would help here. Perhaps you could set a false departure time before the actual one, cannot remember if the car accepts more than one active.

I've seen "webasto" heaters retrofitted to these cars. Owners claim these can be controlled via Mercedes Me with all the other control remaining available. A pity these are not available from the factory at the moment. For a while some MB models had this option in the price list for plug-in models too.

A traditional electric pre-heater (plus cabin heater) would work but clumsy when one would need to plug two cables (could not run simultaneously from the same socket).

Hi everyone
Had a question about the extended warranty. I've just got my letter for a 17 plate and wondered if its worth purchasing - also does it include a service. I tried calling but couldnt get through.
PS if it does include a service - i got 2 years servicing for free so wouldnt that overlap with the extended warranty which im buying after year 1?

Hello!

I've had my 2018 C350e for 3 months now and curious what MB has specced as recommended tyre pressures in the UK? My 2018 C350e in the US comes w/ the staggered 18s and the fuel filler door calls out 36 front, 41 rear (psi). Those seemed pretty high. I experimented with lowering them to 32 and 35 and the ride was better but not sure if it's safe longer term.
They seem about right for low profile tyres. My old Audi was 42psi all round. I run mine at the Merc recommended pressures.

Hi all,
9 months into c350e ownership and loving it even though the battery range has been down to about 4 - 8 miles on these cold mornings! Mine is a 2016 with 85k on the clock so I'm not complaining and it gets me in and out of town OK. Recently my Type 2 3 pin Mains charger packed up. It started with intermittent flashing red light, then no lights. Looking at prices for a new one I went for a generic chinese charger instead for £110. Electric Vehicle PHEV/EV Charger Type 2 5m Cable Portable Car Charger 13A 3Pin 6019088983680 | eBay So far it has been excellent and has a far better info display than the old Merc green LED's. The only thing I really miss is the curly yellow cable! My question is has anybody managed to break into the old Type 2 box to try and fix one? I've had a bit of a hack at it since it is non working anyway but it seems pretty impenetrable! P.S. I also bought a waterproof box to put the new charger in since I suspect that is why the old one packed up - a bit too much rain and cold). This was a snug fit but sits nicely on the wall outside: Masterplug Weatherproof Box Black IP54 Outdoor Electric Socket Garden Power: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

I would be really interested if anyone has found a company that refurbs/exchanges or upgrades the battery packs on our beloved 350e's. There seem to be quite a few companies doing work on old Prius's etc but not Mercs. It is probably not worth the cost on our ageing and failing 6kw battery packs to eek out a few more miles but wouldn't it be amazing if we could some day swap out the battery for one of the new 60 mile range ones! I've looked at the spec of the 2022 Ce class and they have redesigned the rear space to fit the new batteries (and to give a flat load space in the estate) so it is v unlikely it would be a straight swap but here's wishing!

Here's mine BTW ready for beach back in the summer.
I think it makes quite a good surf wagon. Although my other car is a 1972 VW Camper!

Problems with the app.

The damned thing keeps asking me to sign-in and then sends a code - is anyone else suffering the same thing? It worked OK until a few weeks ago. I guess I should delete and reinstall but ...

Hi all.

Just saying hello as I have bought my first C350E with 60K on the clock on a 16 plate.

I need to get Mercedes me working as currently registered to the old owner.

Also thinking of a roof rack... The boot is smaller than my previous Toyota Estate. Apart from Thule any recommendations?

Question from the noob. When driving in Sports mode how long does it take for battery to regenerate? Seems to get stuck at 30%?

I'm right on the fence about a 2016 c350e . The high mileage (140k km) is worrying me a little with regards to the electric battery life.

Anyone some words of advice or should I oay the extra few £ and get a more recent model with less mileage.

Probably the difference of 4k

Fitting a tow bar to a 2017 C350e estate.
Are there any problems in doing this?
The Witter site talks about a software update being needed and that only MB can do that - what does the update do?

From memory it's to do away with the foot waggling boot access as the tow bar interferes with the sensor.
Check on the chassis plate on the door sill that your car is homologated for towing as not all Mercs are.

Thanks. That's one of those plates I'd never worried about - until now. The second line is blank so, I believe, this means the car (C350e Sport Estate 2017) is not able to tow. (I don't have the foot-waggling access option, but the s/w update has become rather academic now)

Hi all. I've had my 2016 c350e for 18 months and love it but I had the dreaded Battery Malfunction warning on Monday whilst on holiday in Wales. The car wouldn't start or go into drive at all. So it was a long breakdown recovery to Hampshire. My usual garage who are Merc specialists but not Hybrid techs replaced the Starter battery which was showing as dead and managed to recharge the Hybrid battery off the engine. But although it now starts and will go into drive, the malfunction quickly appears again and the car shuts down. Got the car trailered to the local Mercedes Dealer and they are saying it is the PTC Heater (which seems to be a common problem). £2,800 to replace (I had to lie down!) It is also going to take 3 weeks for the part to arrive in Germany let alone cross the Brexit border. Which has bought me a bit of time to research solutions. This seems to be the problem and some have suggested a squirt of WD40 and a clean up of the terminals may at least temporarily fix the problem. I've asked MB to take a look while they are waiting but I doubt they will bother. Has anyone got any suggestions and/or specialists that might be willing to take a look and do a fix that doesn't involve replacing the whole heater unit?
It seems crazy that a fault on the heater can bring the entire car to a halt! and that a heater unit can cost almost £3k!

This is not a picture of my car but a picture from the attached document.

Sorry to hear of your problems.

It might be worth talking to Evhybrid Tech to whom I referred in the post above yours.

Googling "MB c350e PTC Heater" throws up a number of threads which you might want to read. As you say this seems to be a common problem & spares/replacements are subject to a long lead time.

Good luck.
