Hi there, had my C36 for a few months now, trying to get to a decent condition and pedigree, ie, loose the bling wheels, I came to think that somebody spent £45,000 for it 10years ago, shouldn't there be some kind of 'extra' manual for it? details of what was done to it, running in details etc... Does anybody know? or if there is, where to get a copy from, or a photocopy? Cheers. Kevin

peachy :)

Now that would be just peachy if you do have one, please let me know if you do, Cheers, Kevin :bannana:

theres not much info in the additional booklet, not worth chashing after!

Were AMG not part of Merc by then ? If so , would the russian VIN decoder not give the original spec ? Failing that , for a car so new , it should not be hard to find out who the supplying dealer was and get some info from them .

If it has had more than one previous owner , you can get all the keepers from DVLA and try contacting them , most people will be happy to tell a new owner about their 'old' car.

AMG were not part of mercedes until a couple of years later, the C36 wasn't a production-line model but it was the first "AMG" to be sold through a stealership.

You may also find that the VIN comes back as a C280, C220 or some other rubbish, same goes for the E36 and one or two other models! The data cards are not always perfect because the cars were hand-finished and specified at a different factory.

the C36 additional info booklet is multi lingual and only about 7pgs is in English. It gives dimension and mechanical specs specific to the car, not much else of use.

I wonder if you could insure the car as a C220, C280, etc if that were the case and declare the mods separately? Could be a saving on insurance. I used to own a BMW Alpina B10 which was a genuine factory Alpina supplied by Sytner in Leicester and the V5 said it was a 535i.

Edit: Just want to add that I'm not suggesting that anyone try to falsely declare their cars with their insurers..

Getting some parts at the dealers the other day, I noticed an AMG brochure on display. I say brochure, but its a nice hard-back 'book' listing all the current models. It's about 1 year old but it's still a nice addition to the collection.

Yup I got the SL range 'brochure' for my model year (97) on eBay, it's a beautiful A4 hardback book.
