C43 AMG Coupe

I'd be interested to hear your initial thoughts on the C43. I know you haven't had chance to drive it much and you won't be able to give a detailed report until you have 'give it some beans', but how does it compare to the M4 so far.

p.s. You may want to remove that swear word from your profile now ;)

I must admit that’s a rather strange sticker to pop on a UK supplied car.
Had the same on my C63 , I guess it is a good way of ensuring that the new owner is aware of this as reading the manual may not be a priority but going for a blast will be!
I believe Ant (Happytalk73) was referring to the fact that the sticker asks you to not exceed 85mph when UK speed limits are 70mph anyway. Surely a UK supplied vehicle should be provided with a "Do not exceed 70mph or ......................" sticker.

From that perspective, yes, but nothing stopping you from using it on a track/runway or road trip to somewhere with higher limits so the sticker covers every angle.

I would think it would take a very brave (and/or stupid) person to take a brand new car on a race track before it was run in, but yes I agree these cars could be taken to the continent.
I did actually think this just after I posted, but I was too lazy to edit my comments.

Yes, as already mentioned, Mercedes need to cover all bases. I guess it’s all about CYA.

Not removed ‘swear word’ but have edited accordingly 👍🏼

Initial thoughts are that the C43 is everything I’d hoped it would be and I’m very happy with it. Both M4 and C43 are awesome machines but they are designed and built for different purposes. M4 is a brute and C43 is sophisticated. I’m expecting the C43 to be fun too once I can open it up but just not in the same brutal way as the M4.

Good point but not all roads in the UK are limited to 70mph👍🏻

I’m sure it will get even better with a few miles under it’s tyres.

Thanks Bobby. It’s pretty good already. I love that it’s so quiet and relaxing in the cabin but, if you want to, it’ll make some noise. Also, I’m hoping that when I can put my foot down it’ll be without fear of going sideways if the road is wet or the tyres aren’t warmed up. Not to mention in the winter when there’s ice on the road or, even worse, snow 😱

All wheel drive makes a lot of sense on high performance cars designed to be used every day. In the real world, with 4matic you’d pull away from a RWD 63 if starting at rest, you’d be past the speed limit before a 63 could unleash any kind of advantage.

Yeah, I think I saw a YouTube video showing a race between a C63 and C43. It makes sense because it was rare that I could get my foot down in the M4 without risking a sideways manoeuvre. I got used to it but that’s knowing how to modulate the accelerator so you’re never actually burying it. I imagine the C63 will be similar if not worse than the M4.

Yes the C63 has a fair amount of torque which doesn’t help when you’re keen to make progress at slow speeds as the temptation is to floor it.

But in the real world you are rarely starting from rest unless its a traffic light drag

I find myself at traffic lights relatively often, but finding myself at the front at the same time as someone else who does anything more than dawdle off the line...can't remember the last time!
