well that's a bet mixed bag.. I'm excited and yet extremely nervous at the same time. My biggest fear is getting the colour wrong.

ah i see, yes matey, i spoke ti them today, the bare metal gets sealed, then the gap gets closed off with an insert and bonded together, then the entire arch gets painted black inside. They have only had the car 5 days and will be at least another month untill completed

Sounds good. Any chance you can ask them to take pictures of this process? I’d like to see how it’s done. Its often the hidden detail bits that aren’t shown, and I find some of that more interesting than the bits that are on show.

here you Jobsworth
these are some pics for you pf them primed and sealed between the arches, then all this gets coated, then the arch liners go over the top;)Golding-Barn-Garage-merc-2-door-wide-arch-conversion-2-4-1536x865.jpg

And some more pics to follow guys...

They fitted the new wheels on and road tested the car to make sure the ride height was correct and there was no rubbing on the new arches.
This is how she sits now

Are they sanding back to bare metal for the change in colour or just back to existing primer?
they have to DA back to the primer otherwise it will have too much paint build up on the edges. But in most cases it will go back to metal otherwise any small dents/ Stone chips etc will become more visible when painted over. And as this is a full colour change they need to start from fresh panels to get the best finish

A little update regarding suspension guys.

I ordered a set of KW V3 Coilovers on the 6th Jan to ensure the car was sitting correctly on the new wheels and to make sure we had no clearance issues, I was told by the supplier that it would be around 2-3 weeks for delivery so expected these by the end of Feb, but with no further updates from KW, I contacted the supplier and was told that the order had been delayed till the end of Feb until they would be able to make the kits, so delivery would be begging of March. Unhappy by this we decided to test drive the car with the new wheels on Stock suspension.
To my delight the car sits perfectly with no clearance issues, and the ride seems to feel better than it did with the stock wheels, this may be due to having I higher side wall on the tyre, back in contact with the supplier, they have agreed that as the order has not yet been made I've opted to get a refund and stick with My OEM suspension.

This pic shows how the car actually sits, and TBH I didn't want the car any lower than this anyway.

a saving yes... until I start playing under the bonnet :wallbash:

You will need those coilovers if you are going to start playing under the bonnet....
Need better handling for the greater power!
Its delaying the inevitable.... sorry....
