C63 507 Model Register

Just had the 507 serviced at MB and asked for engine and gearbox software to be checked to be 100% sure it’s not been altered, they confirmed it’s std as it left the factory. The service Manager did say there are software upgrades for the engine , which should improve fuel economy (slightly) and one for gearbox which should improve shift times. It will cost around £100 to have them applied , which in the scheme of things with a C63 is not a lot.

Has anyone had these done and was there any discernible difference?

Not had it done on the C63 but did have a gearbox software update on the E-Class and TBH couldn't detect any difference.

A Bit of an update on the state of the market for 507's

14 cars currently for sale either privately or through the independent trade. A few still crop up with main dealers but becoming scarce. These are all coupés with no Saloons or Estates available
Average price is £36,600
Average mileage is 34,000
Most of these were only listed for sale in the last 2 months but the Fire Opal Red coupe at Warmans Motors has been up for sale since July 2018 [and is the only car over £40,000  ]
34 cars have changed hands so far this year [15%]

I had my MB dealer check the software on my 507 at the first service under my ownership last October. They said they had updated the software for me to the latest spec and the car did feel better to drive when pushing on a bit with better shifting. Fuel economy isn't a subject I talk about :p

I wasn't charged for the upgrade, possibly because I have a service plan on the car?

Phil - did you miss this one?

Still keep an eye open just in case another estate pops up for when I'm back in the market for one again... Spotted it at £40k last week so a healthy reduction already

Thanks for the info. As you say any difference in fuel economy is likely to be negligible in the bigger scheme of things. I’ll have a chat with the service manager and get an exact price then decide. The shift on the MCT 7speed is slow in comparison to a VAG DSG 7 speed which is lighting quick, but with 500+ bhp its not really an issue, but as the car may be staying long term having the latest software can’t be a bad thing.

On a plus point they did confirm the car has not been mapped and has all its cats intact :thumb:

This one was up for sale privately on Autotrader in July then disappeared. Guess they've passed it on to the trade to try and sell for them. For some reason it doesn't come up in my Autotrader search results :dk:

The oldest of the 507's will have just had their 6th Birthday so how many miles have people done? The chart below shows details of the 'last MOT mileage' for the 196 cars on my list

upload_2019-9-11_22-5-47.png

4 cars have never had an MOT so presumably they are stored away in a barn somewhere, not being driven? The 5th has been exported before its first MOT. 10 cars have expired MOTs so their mileage will be out of date now.

Of the 8 cars with fewer than 10,000 miles, one of them is in Northern Ireland so the mileage is 2 years out of date. One of them has had 4 owners and two cars have had 3 owners.

Conversely, the car with the highest mileage is a one owner car and the other one with over 90,000 miles is a 2 owner car.

How many saloons have been up this year? Any ideas?

I have a service coming up in two weeks. I will ask for the update too.
I've had it on a previous c63 and had no issues.

What was the main difference you could notice? Regarding service I supplied my own MB oil and saved £120 plus got a discount for being a member of the “official” Mercedes-Benz Club so saved more than my my membership fee in one go :thumb:

Hi Phil mine will be 6 Year’s old in December I’m on about 6000 miles I know it’s a waste but I’m away a lot with work

1,200 miles in 3 years is definitely unused. What wheels have you got on the car now as I've got the factory spec as 18" wheels?

Andy, I have a service plan. I took it out when I bought the motor. I am going to ask for a free upgrade on the software though.

Hi Phil I’ve got Black 19 inch 507 Alloys supplied by MB Edinburgh I’m on my second set as the first ones had peeling on the edges so they supplied me with a new set free of charge
