C63 507 Model Register

If you PM me your number mate I can get you added to the WhatsApp group, they will have the convoy details posting in there :thumb:

OK I'll meet whoever is at LFE.
I've taken the liberty of posting this thread on Private Lounge.

Good Morning,

Firstly what a great forum and 507 thread. I currently have a E92 M3 so please go easy on me!

I am looking at getting into a 507. As we all know it turns out the specs of these cars varies drastically and finding a un mollested car is increasingly difficult. I have been looking at a few cars on the market. Does anyone have any info on the Fire Opel 507 currently on Autotrader Reg: OY14 ZPN. I appreciate it has been on the market for a while. The miles are slightly high but will be putting less than 1k on it per annum. Quafie can be added at a later date. I have been reading about the micro blistering problem? Could someone expand on this or have any information on this car?

Thanks Tom

Hi Tom and welcome, first of all well done on joining the forum and asking about the car first. Most of these cars now are known and many people have already viewed some so may be able to give you some insight or warn you off.

The red car you have found has like yiu say, been for sale for some time... maybe 12 months now?

To my knowledge the car did suffer microblisters and has been fully repainted. If you’re looking for an unmolested car, red probably isn’t your colour.

Have you driven one yet? You’ll
Have a hard time only putting 1k a year on it as they’re so addictive!

Good luck with the hunt..!

Welcome aboard Tom :thumb:

Where are you based? I'm sure a 507 owner could be found local to you, or even a meet where a 507 or two would be present, so you can chat to owners and get decent "Soup to Nuts" experiences of ownership and pointers on where the money goes in terms of ownership costs.

Hi,

Thanks a lot for the comments so far. I am slowly reading through all 99 pages of this thread! Great source of information. I live near Exeter so a bit out of the way! I have been in a couple of c63 but have limited experience of them, being a v8 m3 man.

The car mentioned has had a full respray under MB Warrenty. Some would see this as good and bad ? Thoughts ? It’s been for sale for a long time so must be putting people off. The alloys need refurbing which I believe are very hard to do ,due to the diamond cut profile. Anyone know anymore on the car ? Oy14 zpn

Thanks

Tom

Hi Tom

As others have said, the car has been up for Sale since March last year.

It has only had 2 owners, the mileage isn't excessively high for its age and the price is fair so not sure why not sold.

The specification isn't too bad either:
HK Audio
Privacy Glass
Illuminated Sills
Interior lighting pack
Reversing camera

The black wheels are pretty much impossible to get back to factory finish so a refurb probably means going 'all black' amd losing the silver lip around the edge. Depends if that's a show stopper for you.

There are a dozen or so red cars out there so if that's the colour that you're after then probably better to get one that has been resprayed as less likely to have issues in the future.

And red looks the fastest ..!

My personal favourite colour but just couldn’t deal with the risks associated with it!

Did you buy it? Seems to not be advertised any more

If you’d be happy with a black one with refurbished wheels Grant Kirby has a nice looking one up for sale :thumb:

Appreciate the steer, got 4 months to find my next car. At the moment C63 507 appeals but I haven’t had time to try one yet. And red ones look great in the pictures, time for a change after too many monochrome cars

Hi Guys,

The red one I mentioned has been sold subject to viewing. Although I love the red I am still concerned about the paint issues that are well documented. The black car at Kirby was the first one I called about. The refurbed wheels and lack of Harmon Karden put me off. Other than that looks a tidy example. The search continues...

I certainly wouldn't let the lack of HK audio put you off. If you really want a better sound quality then the Morel Maximo speakers on a standard system are better than HK. Personally I don't have HK and it's not a problem ............. and that's from someone who's just spent £400 on speaker cable!!

Evening Guys,

Thanks again for the feedback, I have to say I have now read all 99 pages of this thread, what a great source of information! I probably should not get to hung hp on the HK audio etc but do like things 'Oem' . A few cars do seem to be moving at the momment. There is a high spec magno for sale with the illusive AMG performance media but the miles are over 60k, refurbed wheels etc. I have also seen the forum member 'Andy1a2b' car for sale which looks a lovely example and white is growing on me. I think i have now found my perfect spec car which belongs to I think @ 'Yex' !? on here? if you are ever thinking of selling please let me know :thumb:

Does anyone know if the AMG performance media can be retrofitted? I believe it can but found little info on it.

Still very much on the hunt for the right car. I am in no rush and want to get the right one!

Tom

Having seen this car in the flesh on quite a few occasions, I'm sure if you did decide white was your colour of choice then I know you wouldn't be disappointed with @Andy1a2b 's car and you'd struggle to find another that is looked after/pampered as much as this.

This is very true :thumb:

You may also help Andy scratch an itch he has been dealing with for a little while now if you buy his 507.

If you looking for saloon I can help you.

As an owner with HK specced, and owning a model previously without it specced, I would say it’s a great option to have. Huge audiophile here and I’m more than happy with it. I can make songs and make reference on them with studio monitors and then take them out to the car for another ear. The 3D sound option is great to compare with it turned off. I find certain genres and songs sound better with it turned on than others, luckily it’s a simple on/off option
