C63 Owners do you get problems?

Have thought about buying a cheap CLS55 and running that as its a bit less racy but why should I have to. :wallbash:

I've always been concerned about where I park but I don't let it overrule my choice of car.

I'm too stubborn...

I would continue as is and see what happens. You may find you just had a bad run of idiots and the situation resolves itself.

Saying that, buying a CLS55 is not a bad idea! Bit more class and grown-up than a C63 IMO.

Yep I think my next one if I stay MB will be a larger model. I will have to see how it goes but I'm dreading the day I return to nice scratch along the side of my car :(

I suppose some of this is luck of the draw, but in 3.5 years of ownership I've not really had any bad experiences like that. I sometimes get people at the lights encourage me to "give it some revs" or someone at the petrol station say "fk me look at the size of those brake discs!" :)

Also the usual "people wanting to have a race" but even then it seems to be good natured fun. Maybe I've just been lucky!

Yes - similarly. I've either had the same re: brakes or glances out of vans usually and the admiration smirk directed at me - or those shouting "floor it!" at lights...

Personally, I don't see the car as much of an accolade in the scheme of things but it's nice to see appreciative petrolheads - just as I would be of others who had cars I perceived to be as nice.

The brakes on these cars do seem to be attention seekers. I wish I could charge for viewing them based on cost of replacement :D

I had it with my first car.

Annoying but repairable...

At the end of the day, you will still have the C63 and they won't so it changes nothing. Who is the loser there?

Yeah, and your brakes are more expensive than mine. Although that does make me happy for my sake! :D

Interesting you should mention this because although I get nothing like the problems in my SL when I first had my Boxster it would seem every driver of a black Audi would race me, with the top down I would hear a car revving it's nuts off to race me and low and behold it was a black Audi.

Blue Audi drivers are much more appreciating of AMG's.... so much so I bought one and sold my S4 Audi....... and bought the C63 :thumb::thumb:

Yeah true it's just really annoying. I suppose I love my car too much :(

Lol thanks for that hahaha. I think they will need doing soon based on all the hairline cracks around the ventilation holes on the discs :wallbash:

Slightly off topic but on two seperate occasions in my car (just a sport, standard) at traffic lights I've had cars full of lads pull up next to me and ask 'how much is one of them a month', I obviously look back with a puzzled face and say 'nothing I bought it, why?'

Equally as puzzled, their eyes then glance down at the wheels, then the brakes, then back at me and say 'isn't that a 6 litre?', 'I ******g wish!'

It doesn't say AMG anywhere :dk:

Back on topic, Stuart you are a patient man. I'd definitely be having a stern word with some people, especially the spitting guy. Honestly think I would lose the plot in that situation

I would never concede to pressure from those I don't know or would want to know, there is a thread on Pistonheads from a guy who has an SLK55 who lives in London stating that there seems to be no point in having a fast car. OK in London there is no point but today having taken the day off with the intention to play with my SL I thought Jesus it's like a mums net thread with people on there. Had a good probably at times irresponsible blast in my car and felt alive and happy about the fact I'd bought a car like this s*d everyone else.

This is all in Stourbridge I have to say Brum City Centre I've had nothing but admiration. I was sat in a bar the other day and a couple lads took pictures of themselves stood behind it which is a bit odd but Stourbridge just seems to be full of muppets!

Strange that you would think it was the other way round.

Stourbridge is not far from me really either. Area is supposed to fairly well off, I have a couple of clients locally.

I am similar but don't take it personally. They don't know you and you don't know them.

Although it was 22 years ago, I remember feeling deflated and angry but it passes and I don't really care looking back - I had so much fun in the car that I only remember the keying when it crops up on here.

In a perverse way - it is confirmation you have a nice car.

Yeah, mine were like that last year. Braked fine but after 4.5 years, I gave in as they were rusty too.

Probably the bodykit. Not everyone knows what is what I guess - probably not enthusiasts but just assuming...

Well to be fair Ash I'm not a particularly "hard" man and plus you never know what people are carrying these days.

The spitting guy had a visit from the local constabulary and a warning.

To be fair I'm pretty gobsmacked mate. I live on a private estate near Walsall where I'm surrounded by ex council houses over the back so it's not exactly Mayfair but then it isn't Beirut it's just a normal suburban 3 bed semi estate and I have parked my car around loads no issues and indeed far more flashy cars. My neighbours new M6 is admired and even a local friend with a 16 plate yellow M3 gets only admiration.

Moment I get into Stourbridge people just seem to act weird... Given how wealthy and affluent it is I'm a little baffled as my 5 year old C class Merc albeit with a big engine is hardly worth getting envious of. I mean there's a Bentley Continental that parks further down the road everyday

Neither am I mate I'm only 5'7  They say adrenalin gives you a surge of strength.

I wanted to take that shopkeepers head off when he left that leaflet which wallpapered itself to my windscreen, if you remember that episode lol. I dread to think what I'd be like if a guy spat and stubbed a cigarette out on mine. I have too much of a mouth on me combined with a bad temper

That situation can be changed by handing over some beer tokens to Imran at Torqueflow!

Cool dad!

I remember once pulling into the bit outside by garage and these two young kids (maybe 10/11) were approaching as I slightly accelerated to get round a tight turn. One of them shouted "Whoaaaaaaa" and turned to see what it was. Most amusing and I took it as confirmation of successful choice of engine and exhaust modifications! :D

Imran was trying to turn me to the darkside when I was at MSL last. He even tried to tempt me with W212 style tail pipes.

I was very tempted I must say!

That's not nice to hear mate. Don't understand what these jealous f**ks get out of damaging someones pride and joy.

Yeah I have to say I'm not the most patient of people but it's so hard right outside your place of work on a busy main road. Not worth getting into trouble over :(

Do it :D

Just thinking about it angers me, and it's not even my car! :dk:
