C63 Owners do you get problems?

Well sorry but there's your answer. Major jealousy!! A 28 year old in a car some people could never afford. I owned a rs 500 at the age of 20 and I remember it pretty much had the same effect on a lot of people back then. Not right but it's a fact. I'm now a grey haired 44 year old and nobody bats an eyelid if I've got something nice.

Don't let it faze you. Your obviously doing well. Why let these pricks deprive you of owning what you want. :thumb:

To be fair though I don't get it because ultimately my car cost me less than a Ford Mondeo.

I find that people get more upset about where I live than the car that I drive.

That is the answer. They see it as "you've had it easy", "silver spoon", "Daddy's bank" etc. Which is no doubt not the case at all, but they assume so, and so it's envy and resentment.

If you dress smartly (being an estate agent) they also wouldn't see you as a threat. I bet if you put a hoodie and trainers on and shaved your head they'd assume you're some kind of well connected drug dealer or something and wouldn't dare spit on it.

I seem to attract a lot of jealous people and idiots... It's the first car I have had that seems to attract this and I'm a bit baffled. Considering it's not particularly flashy and fairly discreet compared to others I've had I don't understand it and it's ruining my enjoyment :(

So far this is the events:

1. People tailgating me a lot
2. Various expletives at the lights from someone who said my car was too loud
3. Guy by my office put fag out on car windscreen then spat on it as I parked outside his house
4. Chap on pavement threw hard object denting my door a week after getting car resulting in expensive repair.
5. Today parked outside my office plugging route into sat nav and scummy looking guy decides to barge into my mirror pushing it in with a loud crack. Luckily it isn't broken. Then he decided to give me all sorts of hand signals as I drove off. (I decided not to have a row outside my place of work)

I'm getting a bit upset about it as I'm constantly worrying now that someone is going to damage it!

Now stu I would stop tailgating you if you moved out the way !lol
The rest of your list most of us one way or the other have experienced it mate ,don't let it affects the passion to own such a gorgeous car!
Ps:if they think your car is loud tell the to come and listen to mine !lool

I think the tailgating issue isn't meant maliciously, it's them egging you on to floor it.

Sometimes the five finger shuffle thing...but nothing else...and I have been in some pretty rough places, and no one says anything/or they nod approvingly. The noise on start up does turn heads though...no cats on my car. Perhaps old Porsches are not seen as offensive(?).

I was in the Sprinter yesterday and opened the window in stationary traffic...but the C63 coupe next to me wouldn't rev for me.

I've not had anything like this.

Every time I take it into a city, or on a major road, it's mainly just stares, thumbs up or camera phones.

Never had a problem with any Mercedes car , had quite a few AMG's , W210 E55 , E55k , C55 , C32 , CLK55 , they are all understated cars , remove the AMG badge and a lot of people wouldnt know the difference , possibly the newer the car , then the jealousy aspect is a problem. But when i had my E36 M3 and E46 M3 , it was a different story , traffic light grand prix's were a regular occurrence and scratches to the paintwork were all too common.

This is why I'm baffled as its a car I chose to be discreet and not flashy!

Take the badges off. Mine was deleted at factory. Most people haven't a clue what it is. It is a family estate too, so people even more surprised when it gets nailed.

Well what happened today, has put me right in a positive and upbeat mood. After a day of spirited driving around country roads wife decided to run into Sainsbury to get something for tea. I was in the car with my lil Boy chilling. Another merc owner was parked in front of us, after a few minutes he started walking towards me and the car and we chatted for a good while, he totally appreciates the car and said it was his dream car and maybe one day he will get one etc. He asked me to fire it up to which I cordially obliged to with a big grin on my face. Started it up from cold and his face was filled with delight. He then asked if I could Rev it and I did. Also asked to pop the bonnet open, we stood there for a good 15-20 minutes chatting about the city, work, where we were from etc and more so about the car. Mrs then arrived and it was time to bid adieu.

The guy was clearly way older than me and there was not a hint of jealousy or spite but just a shared passion and admiration for a beautiful car.

My faith in humanity has been restored temporarily, it ain't that bad at times

Stuart very sorry to hear but in no way should you consider giving up things you enjoy and love - no way!! I know this is likely not what you want but would de-badging it help ? You know what the car is f*** what everyone else knows, realises or thinks. Also I keep a fire extinguisher at my right door storage good when if a "fire" breaks out :)

I think a lot of people don't actually get this concept.

This was highlighted not so long ago on Top Gear when they bought and CL and an 8 Series.

They parked them up in a high street and asked people to state how much they thought they cost.

Quite a few suggested they were a lot more expensive than they actually were.

Just a perception - Mercedes must be expensive regardless. Even though this is not the case.

I must admit, I did consider de badging the rear of my C63, for no other reason than I looks so clean. I previously de badged the rear of my BMW M5.

Sorry to hear of C63 issues. Must say I was worried about getting my new E63, as where I now live isnt quite as nice as when I had previous cars such as E55, maserati 3200gt , db7 vantage, SL's etc for which I only experiencd positive reactions from others , so had the car not just debadged but stuck E350 on the boot lid. Which is fine when parked up but once it starts up ... The game is up! Not had any jealousy issues so far as I think the E is quite understated anyway, but I do get a kick from booting it! A proper wolf in sheeps clothing. Other cars in company fleet are audi and my co-director had his Q7 bonnet defaced and his previous red S4 avant was keyed twice. Signs of the times I guess but I wont be dictated to by scrotes so will drive whatever takes my fancy. Enjoy your C 63 !

I get a real mix of people who love the car and people who get hugely jealous. I can imagine it getting keyed or hit at some point, but that is why I pay insurance.

What annoys me most are car parks - so many people rest their door on the neighbouring car. Man, if I caught someone doing that to mine

Sorry to hear that mate, that's horrible and very sad, I can't say I've experienced anything close to that my self.

Had all sorts of Mercs, Porsches, even a Ferrari California and not had anything like that.

I did have a small thing about a month ago, I was driving my 911 in the left lane doing about 60-65, a car came from the right hand side lane cut me up and started cleaning his wind scream infront of me, I was annoyed as I just cleaned it lol.

Thing is I over took him and it was a middle aged man, id say in his 50s - sad little cu*t :(

I can only put it down to jealousy. I couldn't stretch to a 63 in any form so bought a tidy E350 CDI Sport. Within days of getting it it's acquired two dents in the drivers side (I went out one morning and found a black bin bag of rubbish up against the side of it) and the lower grille in the bumper has been broken by what I can only assume was someone kicking it.
Even a loan C class coupe I had ended up covered in crisps overnight!
