C63 purchasing

Just because we mentioned tyres, last week I put 4 Conti sport 5 on my wifes bm. They are like superglue. Leagues ahead of the Conti sport 3.

How much HB, and for what sizes?

Honestly Sean they are so much gripper than the conti 3. Also put them on the front of my Gti which runs 380bhp and they have so much more traction. It's like another LSD.

I'd like to think that on reflection it may be seen that it takes two to tango

It does.

And invariably that involves you.

I have been here for many years. More than most. including a previous ID for 5 years..... And in that time I have seen people come and go.

In that time I have never felt the need to reply to each and ever post. To have the last word.....

And my heart sinks when I see Columbo......

You have made a huge contribution to the forum, there is no doubt. Of late, however, it seems you have been provocative, and your contribution has not been as constructive as it used to be....often perpetuated by other like minded menbers....

At the risk of me having to bow out of this forum, no doubt because of the back lash of this postI have had enough.
,
The desire to feature on every thread and have the last word is tiresome.

My hat is off to the Admim team that have had to make a difficult decision. Don't knock it. I am sure it was not easy. And if I am equally banned then I respect that. Let them do their job

Call this a rant. Call it what you will. I am just sad that in my many years on this amazing forum there seems to be so much friction.....

Seems a shame to lose a decent contributor and someone that has joined in with "club life", permanently over a bit of a spat.

It's not my forum and they aren't my rules, so after all I don't call the shots, but...perhaps after a cooling off period...??

For what it's worth, I agree with this. It is nice to have enthusiastic users on here who drive 'normal' mercs, neither classics nor supercars, who are not motor industry professionals and who just enjoy their cars. St4s Scottish pictures were great.

However I do find the anti C63 business incomprehensible. They are lovely cars that do great credit to the MB marque and give them credibility as drivers' cars as well as autobahn cruisers and limos. Likewise the petrol versus diesel debates on here are generally nothing short of imbecilic.

Well said. In my opinion, Steve will be missed. His road trips were great and photos excellent and I often agreed with his views.

As for the "C63" thing, it is hard to fathom. It can't be the "63" as there are lots of other 63 cars and we don't get problems with those. So why the C? Maybe it's all just humour, gone a bit too far... :dk:

But, I can't help feeling that lively debate is fun and if it occasionally strays a little too far for some, does it matter? We're all mates really! :D

good reason to get 19" alloys

how does CS 5 compare to Michelin Pilot Super Sport?

+1000

mbclub used to be relaxed, thoughtful, considerate, friendly, tactful, humourous and helpful. it retains many of these aspects

BUT

in recent past, it has very often resembled an internet battle ground.

To pick up on an earlier point regards tyres, are all tyres that Mercedes fit from factory MO stamped or is that just from certain brands?

Is only a few C63 members here that like to stir, then run to the mods and cry about it for day`s

There were C63 threads that we all enjoyed and did not have the need to get closed or anyone to get ban

Take Palmball for example, don`t remember any of his threads getting closed

It wasnt the c63 owners that were caught red handed plotting on how to stir and disrupt now was it?

Best change your tone here as I think patience is running very thin at the moment.

im not so skilled as to notice much difference in the grip levels between the contis and the michelins
but in terms of wear characteristics the rear tyres on a c63 have returned only 7000 miles on either conti 3s or 5s but the michelins are now approaching 10,000 miles (including two trackdays), they are on 19s
i believe others get even better mileage from michelins

It seems that each forum has it's taboos... on a previous forum I used to frequent you'd get banned if you started an oil thread... everyone thought they knew all there was to know about engine oil, esters, flash point etc, and any attempt to discuss 'which is the best engine oil' would immediately descent into personal insults... I guess it's a forum thing.
