Morning all,

Finally found the time to get her on star today! :bannana: but the result wasn't so:bannana:!

The problems i am experiencing are as follows:

Car will not rev above 2500 rpm and no kickdown, otherwise drives nice and you wouldn't notice the fault untill you put your foot down.

When trying to start in the morning after being parked nose up on a slope overnight, it starts first time and cuts out immediately. Eventually starts after 2-4 attempts of turning over. When parked on a flat, starts first time, every time.

The faults that came up were as follows:

1. P0100-001 Airmass sensor
2. P1354-016 Camshaft sensor
3. P1354-064 Crankshaft sensor

Now, I have decided to replace all the bits, but what do you 'people of knowledge' make of the above?

Is it necessary to change all the parts? Or have they been trigered by one another?

If they all should be replaced, can/should i use eurocarparts?

I there anyone who can get me these parts at a discounted rate?

Also, one of the parking sensors is faulty (left center sensor, front bumper),would this be the middle one of the 3 on the left side or the one next to the reg plate on the left hand side? Best place to buy replacement and how easy to diy?

Any advice/suggestions are much appreciated.;)

Oh and it may help to know that the car in question is a 2001 E320 CDI Avantgarde Auto!

I had a similar problem on my E220.
It turned out to be the motor link to the inlet manifold.
Bit of a bummer of a job as you have to get a new manifold.
When my car was put on test it brought up a long list of problems that are all related.
Did you get a garage to do the star test as they would be able to see on the motor arm had come off?

steve

It was a garage, but they didn't check the motor arm. Can this be checked DIY?

if you can get to see under the inlet manifild you will see if the arm is attached or not.
My garage is used to them so could feel from above.
you could even do the job of refitting the manifold but would need the star to reset codes.
If it is that though mine cost £630 to fix £300 fo the manifold and the rest pn bits and labour.
All for a tiny ball joint made of plastic

Did get similar fault codes when you had the problem?

Did you get chance to have a look?
Or have you got info on how to test the other components?

haven't had a chance to look yet, but my mechanic reckons its worth cleaning the airmass sensor with electrical contact cleaner and reccomends using mb parts only. is this a good idea?

Sometimes cleaning it can work and sometimes it will make it worse. You can't really know. Best bet is to get a new one from ECP and make sure it's Bosch.

Just cleaned it, car was flying for the first few minutes then it went back to normal.

I think ill replace it and see if that helps. If it doesn't, I'm gonna drive into the wall. End of.:D

Get a Peirburg air mass sensor from Euro Car Parts. It is the same as the MB one.

Cleaning the MAF's never works for long.

My mechanic reckons even a pierburg one from ecp won't be good enough. I thought its the same or are they made to a different standard for the dealers?

They are EXACTLY the same I promise you. I use them all the time.

I'm just waiting on a quote from acid, then I shall replace the sensor and hope for the best!

Sorted, it was a faulty air mass sensor! Pulling like a train now! Woohoo!

Thanks for all your help
