Camera Detectors

I've got the old syle road angel plus and have always found it very good for reminding you where fixed sites are and where mobiles have been spotted too.
Only problem I have now tho is that it doesn't work in my W215 as I'm assuming the windscreen has some kind of coating that blocks the GPS signal? Very frustrating so I'd recommend that whatever solution you decide on, you check that it works in your car before parting with any hard earned cash.

Most cars have a gap in the metallised coating which blocks the GPS signal the gap is usually a 6x4 slot located in the lowest centre of the windscreen. If placed here the gps unit normally works :)

I remember seeing something that reported offering protection from laser guns as well... it would jam the laser for a few seconds allowing you to slow down.

That way, the policeman would retry firing the gun, and find that you are under the limit...

Fairly sure it isn't legal though...

As post #18 and it is perfectly legal :D

why not? - its not really for parking you know...
If your car has Parktronic you are going to struggle to justify the fitting of an aftermarket parking aid that just "happens" to interfere with police laser guns. In the same way that if you fit a laser "gate/door opener" you'd better actually have a gate/door that it operates.

Road Angel and snooper do good ranges, you'll find something for your needs.

And I quire understand your need for it.

However, it doesn't guard against the menace that is the unmarked car, and laser gun. You need to get a garage opener to Jam the laser signals, but you'll never beat the unmarked cars.

It would be good if there was a listing of unmarked cars
description, reg, and region ( only joking ...;) )

laser jammers are illegal and carry a custodial sentance! normally advertised as "garage door openers".

No they are not and that is a legal fact (CPS and QC verified) . There is a loophole in the regs where parking distance devices and garage door openers based on 904nm laser light are permissable, it just so happens this frequency stops laser speed guns getting a lock.

My devices have been veriied as perfectly legal, and until they close the loophole they are perfectly legal, police fact.

The devices you are talking about are the ones specifically designed to block laser speed devices and trigger an alert on the laser gun, these are known as blinders and provide no other use than to blind speed detection devices and as you quite rightly say ilegal but a distinction between the 2 definitelly needs to be made

Even if you don't have a garage door, or the car already has a factory-fit parking sensor system?

Thanks to all you guys for your input in which you have all been very helpful and loved reading some of the posts. To be honest the Snooper Lynx seems to do it all and is £100 cheaper than the Road Angel pro that as far as I can see does exactly the same thing. As for a laser jammer, which as some of you have already said by the time you start jamming the rozzers have already nicked you so can't see the point in one of those.

What do you guys reckon on the Snooper, seems like good value for £140? The subscription price is £100 per year but that doesn't seem too bad plus it automatically updates new cameras and information.

Correct even if you have parktronic and a secondary laser parking device fitted it is perfectly legal, they can't prosecute you for having two of the same thing. To prosecute you for jamming laser signals they would have to prove thats what you fitted the device for and that is impossible. If you have a parking device or garage door opener fitted you will not be prosecuted for jamming speed laser guns. The police are not even allowed to come and check if you have a garage door opener fitted on your garage. There is already presedence set in the courts so until the law is changed banning 904 nm laser light control devices they are perfectly legal

Snooper use the Aura database which is useless please dont waste your money and the lynx is an old device

Laser jammers operate all the time not just on detection so they stop the gun getting a lock in the first place and are by far the best protection

My comments above based on years of experience, you pay your money and takes your chance but IMHO Snoopers are a waste of your well earned, go over to Pocket GPS World and read the scathing reviews of the database and how they miss cameras

Crikey, so they are not worth having then.....Its a pressie from the missus for Xmas but want a half decent one that will detect cameras...thats the main aim, whats the one you would go for (I know you mentioned it in a previous post...sorry to ask again) and how much are they and do you need to upload from a datatbase?

Sorry for all the questions mate but I want to get this right.

Thanks again!:thumb:

My Choice would be as follows and I list them in order of most expensive first

Pogo Alert ~ £200
Road angel ~ £60 for compact to £199 for pro connected
Inforad V4 ~ £60

Only difference is how fancy you want the display and interface

If it were me I would go on e bay and buy the Road Angel Compact from road angel store just go onto e bay and search for road angel compact, currently £59.99 which is a bargain

Hope that helps but it's only my opinion but I have tried and tested loads of these devices.

Sorry mate I dont know your name but thanks for the heads up....I just took a look at the Road Angel Pro on their website and that looks very nice its under £200 which was the maximum the missus wanted to go to...The compact and some of the others are now discontinued according to their website.

So if I got the Road Angel Professional you would say that was a good one to go for....I promise I'll only ask this one last time :D

Thanks again!

Having read the above I agree that the perceived wisdom is that laser is a waste of time as when you get the alert its too late, and any Jammer is likely to get you into deep doodoo if you are found out

IMHO the Road Angel is just right for two reasons

1. It warns you of danger zones
2. it acts as a great digital speedo and keeps you aware of your speed

Job done:thumb:

It's not a problem and I'm glad to be of help but it is only my opinion, if you can stretch to the Road Angel Pro then that will more than satisfy your needs. You are quite correct the compact is now discontinued but there are still a lot of new models out there particularly on e bay.

My name is Ian and if you need anything else please don't hesitate to ask quite happy to help.

Good Luck and hope you enjoy your purchase. :)

Yeah thanks ever so much Ian, me and the missus are going to take a look at Halfords tomorrow as they are doing them for £200 which is a fiver more than Road Angel themselves but only down the road to me.

Just need to get the C63 now for it to fit in LOL. That doesn't come until the 30th November.

I have Origin b2 on both cars and have had them for a few years now very small and very affective.
