Car suggestions please (other than mercedes)

DB9 & W12 GT are hideous on fuel and servicing is very expensive. Badges obviously have appeal however you'd be better off with a W216 CL63 if you're considering those and a CL500 does most of that for a lot less.

i wish.. u know im mercedes man... but wifey wants anything but..

i even through a cls shooting break her way and went to sit in one at brentford mercedes, and she was like, the interior is wack, its boring, hates the stereo controls, hates the lack of driver focused cockpit etc etc blah blah

what is a man supposed to do or say to that..

um.. where darker sunglasses?? or sit in the back..??

or.. just dont drive it :bannana:

How about the new Jaguar XJ...it is a great looking car, nice interior. Or how about a bmw 6 series, 2011 or earlier.

Normally I say if it's your money you choose - oh hang on a minute...

What about a proper Range Rover?, I'm sure you could pick up a nearly new last of the mk3s for within budget, they look a lot better than the new one too.

TEST DRIVING IN BARNET this weekend coming and then hve joint test drive at their bentley dealership across the road.. will report back..

however we may get these done tomorrow as SWMBO has an appointment in barnet so will see if we can move the test drives forward

911 Turbo?.

im a fan of the original xk..

she isnt..

the new one has lost some appeal over the previous panther look, and kinda looks like a sorry aston.. i dunno..

I was going to mention Bentley etc, but assumed that it must be new.

If used is a choice, then there's a LOT of choice. Mine would be a Panamera/Aston/Mas etc

Are you driving the new one or a Mk3?, I'm a big Range Rover fan and was really looking forward to the Mk4 but since seeing one in the flesh I just don't think it looks as good as the outgoing model, the interior of the new one is amazing but then the Mk3 was great too, hope you enjoy it:thumb:.

Not going to get Lacrosse sticks on a 911!

911 Turbo?.

we looked at the c4s cabrio before we picked up the s5 cabrio, and loved it, but her lacrosse kit was the problem

Take a look at the 6 Series Gran Coupe. The basic ivory interior option looks good. The car isn't overly flashy and has plenty of presence - if you debadge it then most people won't know what it is but it will stand out next to a 3, 5, or 7. New ones available on contract hire at reasonable rates. Used at a bit above 50K but usually have MSport pack which gives better seats, more leather, and larger alloys.

5GT mentioned in other posts is also a very interesting option. With the glass roof and white interior it looks like a great place to travel. When I was looking last month there were pre-registered ones in the dealerships - only downside is that they are probably 520 versions rather than the larger engine.

seen the price on the 6 gran coupe?.. its a bit too steep

I took delivery last week.:bannana:

The deal I got on contract hire was a bit better than the lowest I can find today - I suspect because they were looking to fill February build slots because some buyers were holding off for some minor upgrades coming through from the March build.

Current best deal I can find at the moment is £479+VAT on a 6+29 for a 640d SE. MSport pack adds £60/month to that.

On those numbers you'll almost certainly beat the depreciation over 30 months even against buying new with a 10% discount.

I've sat in a Mk4 one and it's a great interior, I'm sure it's a great car to drive too, just I'm not convinced on the looks over the old one.
I'm with you BTW Vogue>>Sport.

Are you buying outright or on finance Boss?

not sure, poss finance if a decent rate is attainable, otherwise outright, we have the flexibility on this fortunately, just need to look at few options..

i mean, putting sensible hat on, if i bought a 320d and not a 328i and put it as a business vehicle, registered to business address etc etc, i can make it a very cost effective lease arrangement etc etc..

so many dynamics come into play, business or non, purchase or finance, etc etc

A7?
