By the way, sorry about today! Manic, but I'll tell you tomorrow!

Barry, no worries.. all good..

as you know, we had done the A7 before.. and i hated it.. if it was an S7 or RS7, then that is a different proposition ;)

Forgot about that... :)

In that case how about an X6, 5GT or my current fav BMW, a new 6 (2 or 4 door) :)

Have you dismissed the Jaguar XF? Build you own on their website.

A friend of mine had a db9 for just over 2 years last straw was a bill from dealer for almost 5k as well as plenty of time off the road.

looking into the 640d at mo

If you're looking at reviews online ignore comments about electronically controlled dampers being standard. They're not on UK models - but I suspect BMW's original marketing materials kind of confused the matter for journalists. basically unless you cough for the adaptive suspension you don't get the Comfort+ mode.

Think about factoring in the cost of a reversing camera (I'd guess about £11/month + VAT on contract hire or £335 extra) if the car will be reversed in tight spaces. The view out of the rear is constricted and while the standard parking sensors help - the camera will probably help a lot more IMO - and it's hidden in the rear badge when not in use so should stay clean.

OMG.. just found pics on the new range rover sport.. it looks nasty. and too evoque like..

aston is out for sure!!

Boss you said you're not keen but I'd stretch that budget a teeny bit and get a Cayenne V8 Diesel. All the car you'll ever need.

Good shout.

Or a Panamera V6TDi.

I'd recommend an 535d if non merc.

Bentley Continental GT Speed - sod the budget

Volvo is interesting us at the moment..

V40 is an interesting car- based on the last Focus platform irrc Gets generally favourable write ups. Looks are sensitive to choice of wheels as is the ride.

V60 estate =Slightly bigger version of same.

XC60= much more clumsy looking version of the above but unless you need 4WD??

Of the above the V40 would be the best drive but lacks the build quality of the more expensive models

Correction it would appear you can get a 4WD version of the V60 which to me would be preferable to the XC60 :dk:

Six page thread and not narrowed down within the range of Aston Martin to Volvo ;-)

Why not encourage your wife toward a quickish Golf/Focus/A3/1 Series and with the money you save you can trade yours in for an E63 :bannana:

It's a nice looking car if you don't want a German. Get a little street cred with the 4WD version.:thumb:
