Car suggestions please (other than mercedes)

A nice Conti GT has to be the best option, big boot, not too bad running costs as essentially its a Phaeton, A8 in Drag.

The only issue is fuel

I've bought a couple including my current from these guys - For Sale » Lawton Brook - there are some interesting alternatives to consider

What was it that you didn't like about the A7 Dillan?

Curious as I'm looking at an ex-demo S7 at the minute

the car styling is interesting, however i find the rear 3/4 view sluggish

the interior is large and spacious, but it feels to large and lacks engagement with the driver...

the trim also was not that greatly put together in my opinion..

my neighbour has a 2003 rs6 and i must admit its a car he is soooo happy with, and the older rs6 is rather iconic...

s7 could be nice.. just look at the quality

What's wrong with a 535d. More or less same car, almost as good looking and cheaper

Presence.

And when I was looking it was cheaper to buy but not cheaper to lease than a 6. However ISTR the standard equipment fit was a bit better.

So have you tried a 5GT yet?

I know it's been mentioned a bit in this thread they're amazing cars (if you can get past the controversial styling).

Take one out and see what you think, certainly ticks a lot of boxes. Absolutely loving ours, you should be able to get a cracking deal on a new one as there's a facelift due end of this year.

Lots of opinions of course but to be honest you and your wife need to define what are the principal characteristics you are looking for in a car [ you won't get them all] -- not necessarily who makes it.

First whose car will it be principally you, the missus, or both.
Are you looking for a style icon or a practical vehicle
Reasonable economy or cost no object.
New,nearly new under warranty, or 2 or 3 owners?

Just some basic constraints.

Here are your original requirements

1/ Must NOT be mercedes
2/ should be fairly exclusive
3/ should have a light interior
3/ few different schools of thought are a 4x4 or a sports grand tourer
4/ should have a smart elegant style, but be of higher quality
5/ budget max really £40-£50k
6/ Should not have stigma of an old man/old womans car
7/ not a far eastern brand nor american, thus prob british or german

At least 50 % of the suggestions [ worthy cars in themselves] simply don't meet your original criteria as far as I can see and this is in danger of simply becoming a "name your favorite make/model car" thread?

The OP also stated he'd consider a Volvo - which doesn't meet 2, 4 or 6.

The ultimate "green" car...Fisker Karma...65MPG, taking orders in the U.K. now, but may never deliver..so not to worry about the price !!!!

Or as someone else posted a Maserati GT or Quattroporte...

Meets all of your requirements...

5GT is an amazing car, but drop the run flats.

I have done around 12000 miles in a 530d GT and it is probably the best all round non M BMW in the range at the moment.

The new 3 GT may get me back into a BMW when it arrives.

fair ppoint, will narrow down and define better when i get back.. heading out now... will try and simplyfy things tmorow..

difficulyy is choice, and requirements change to suit a car, if we like it..

its for both of us, well we are both contributing to it financially, so its good for both parties to have a choice on it .. obviously :)

have a good evening peeps

The Lecross thing seems a bit of an issue with a sports car, Audi have the new RS6 coming out soon:cool:.
