Car suggestions please (other than mercedes)

But then there's always one of these....

I tried one a couple of years ago and was blown away! Terrific quality, presence and a fantastic drive. Out of my price league at the time, but now, they're quite affordable really.. :)

I've always really wanted one of these. One of the best suggestions in this thread:thumb:

Horrible ride, poor fuel economy, expensive to service, poor ergonomics and terrible residuals. Other than that :thumb:.

Put aside TG nonsense and what the Rabbi drives.
Buy a car because you like it. If that's not an Avantime so be it.
But it reads as if you're too worried about what other people think.

Image is everyfink...innit...

I would just buy anything and stick a heritage grille on it....Job Done...!

A friend of mines wife has a Lexus RX450h, it's her second one and she loves it. I've been inside it and I must say it's a lovely place to be, her's is white exterior with grey leather.

Nice other than the granddad interior :p

I like that Panamera. It's the 2nd best suggestion so far, after my Avantime :)

we are considering the porker.. but lil too pricey for the ones we enquired about..
ie.. light interior.... and fuel bills are not gonna be healthy.

Remember Porka residuals actually make them a failry cheap ownership experience, even more so now you can get the twin turbo 3 litre diesel.

Plus you get 2 years warranty whether you buy new or used, so buying an 11 plate mean you still get 2 years warranty.

IMHO buy to the budget not to the age (ie. new) car you may aspire to.
Your budget can buy a very nice Panamera Diesel.
When spending +£40k depreciation is likely to be your biggest expense, not fuel.
If you're worried about annual costs, buy a cheaper car......have I told you about a very nice Avantime for £3k?!

Just remind us again what your requirements/priorities are again :)

Just adding to this.

Porsches tend to loose 25% in year one like every thing else, vat and a bit of dealer margin I guess?

However, after that they hold their money extremely well.

When I was deciding between a 911 C2S and an M3 CSL the £52,000 Porsche was £470 a month compared with £455 a month for the CSL* which was only £39k.

Compare that with a £50,000 S Class or specced E Class which is coming in at £1000 a month and it shows how well they hold their value.

I think a lot of it is to do with the fact you can get a warranty at any point with Porsche, as long as you take out their 113 point check and sort any issues first, they will allow you to take one out, and compared to say an RS4 or C63 they are very reasonable and cover everything.

* Having said that, I understand my CSL changed hands again recently, some 4 years later for only £2000 less than I sold it for.
