Car suggestions please (other than mercedes)

so looked into the xk8. a cabrio actually.. totally stunning car, however the boot is totally useless as are the back seats..

a man of taste :)

if you have roof up, you get bigger boot.

won't the lacrosse stuff fit on the rear seats?

no, her kit is quite chunky as is her stick..

ideally needs to be in the boot... anyway, the boot in the xk is way to shallow, roof up, okish, but still poor...

we saw a great deal...

2010 burgundy with red roof and cream interior.. £35k

or a new XKR - 90K... 35k would work nicely... but the car was wrong on this occassion..

With the amount of kit SWMBO carries around probably plus another handbag and a bag besides you are almost certainly looking at an estate. Plus it going to be parked outside sports centres, a lot, and subjected to a lot of door kinks from unkindly parkers.

Its back to Volvo to me, the XC90? I'm sure they do a posh version. How about two cars for her. A sporty little thing for when she is not hauling her kit about and an estate thingy for when she is. Im sure she does not play lacrosse everyday.

Renault Avantime

1/ Must NOT be mercedes Tick
2/ should be fairly exclusive Tick
3/ should have a light interior Tick
3/ a sports grand tourer Tick
4/ should have a smart elegant style, but be of higher quality Tick
5/ budget max really £40-£50k I'll sell you one for £40k if you want
6/ Should not have stigma of an old man/old womans car Tick
7/ not a far eastern brand nor american, thus prob british or german Tick

When can I collect my commission?

I find myself browsing Avantime on Autotrader from time to time. :thumb:

not quite!!

It's of higher quality than a Dacia. It's all relative you see. Boss didn't say what his benchmark was. :)

Anyway 6/7 is still rather good I feel and worthy of a handsome commission.

the implied benchmark was Mercedes ...

It's the best suggestion to date, even if I say so myself :D

Car £3k
Replace perished items £2k
'Detail' £500
Non-age specific reg plate £500

Tell the neighbours it's a new concept car - they'll never know!

You'll have a "nearly new" car for £6k that meets almost all the requirements and will loose less money than most of the others suggestions.

You're spoiling my fun with your logic. :) Anyway the Boss doesn't rate MB quality these days - he's said so enough times.

hi, it is a good suggestion.. im actually impressed, as it does kinda answer my quest in one form or another.. which kinda goes back to a previous post about rethinking my criteria

but i think out benchmarks are slightly off..

for me, i have only ever seen two of these in the flesh..

both were driven by the 2 different Rabbi at the local Synagogue and they were old!

i dont put renault on the quality board at all

Top Gear Trashed one, and in doing so, its highlighted how badly they were built.. and just a big people carrier with out the ability to carry people...

but Thanks.. its a lil different to the range rover we drove yday.. lol

But then there's always one of these....

I tried one a couple of years ago and was blown away! Terrific quality, presence and a fantastic drive. Out of my price league at the time, but now, they're quite affordable really.. :)

Other than modifying it, how did they trash it, it stood up to everything they did to it.
In fact, they agreed, it was one of only three cars they all liked.

Funnily enough I saw one at Milton Keynes yesterday and it was certainly eye-catching..... in a wierd sort of way!

im sure when i saw it they trashed it.. not in the caravan kinda way.. lol

Eh? Does anyone watch TG and actually learn anything about cars?
Put aside TG nonsense and what the Rabbi drives.
Buy a car because you like it. If that's not an Avantime so be it.
But it reads as if you're too worried about what other people think.
It's only a car after all. If you don't like it, you sell it and try something else.
:)
