Care to guess?

We have a winner. She would pay an extra £830

The current insurers Ageas will not add her to the policy, so to cancel that policy and take out a new one with Aviva would cost £998 fully comprehensive (protected NCD) for wife and daughter (unqualified)
If she had passed her driving test, the quote increased to £1157 as she would be using the car unaccompanied and considered a higher risk?

Very happy with those quotes and her just turning 25 must make a difference.
Guess who she is going to sweet talk now?

Yes big difference between 25 and 17 years old I think.

That's still quite a lot. I live in a fairly bad London postcode and we paid considerably less than that. Our daughter was only 18 at the time too

Can you remember the insurance company Dave?

I'm going to end up paying this so if it can found cheaper I'm all ears:D

I'm considering going back and asking about monthly cover as she is adamant she'll have her own car by October along with passing her test:doh:
We'll see.

It's a shame the C300h doesn't stay in electric mode permanently:(;):D

Got a quote from above company to insure Focus 1.8 petrol for 24 weeks (minimum period) for £562 29 in her own name running in conjunction with wife's own insurance. Its tempting but I'll wait to see what her ladyship wants to do.:D

I am NOT condoning it in any way, but I can see why some young people drive without insurance. When I passed my test in 1987 I don't remember insurance being quite so ludicrously expensive.

My wife was quoted around £900 until the end of year to keep multicar dates the same, next year was £1400. in the 'third' year, she passed and with around 5 months left on the policy she passed her test. I phoned to tell the insurance and they wanted another nearly £700 until the end of the year as she was not an inexperienced solo driver. They also said if you don't want to proceed, her previous insurance is now void as she no longer is a provisional driver.

having me by the balls, I agreed and when the renewal cam though, hers was around £600 as she had accredited 2 year's NCD. First time EVER I was pleased with an insurance quote!

I took out the annual option, paid in full up front and got a refund once my son had passed the test. The learner policy automatically voids on passing the test. All in, it worked out the most cost effective and least disruptive option.
