Hi all, any advice would be appreciated..

I recently purchased a 1998 C180 Classic with 18" AMG replica wheels and I purchased a matching spare tyre and alloy to replace the old spare in the boot. Im a bit concerned maybe this is adding to much weight in the boot, anyone else carry a full size tyre and alloy in the boot?

Many thanks

I had a full size wheel in the boot of the old C180 Esprit and both of my current cars have full size spares, although in the CLK Cab, the wheel is painted black and says MAX 50mph. The wheel is identical to the originals apart from the colour (or appears to be).

I carry a full tyre and steel wheel which i think is heavier than the alloy.
The weight is negligible or are you competing in the BTCC?

lol! Thanks Grav & Recycled appreciate your time

Yep, I too have a full size alloy, with tyre, in the boot. It can't be much heavier than the alternatives and is surely a lot more practical - unless you have larger rear wheels and directional tyres that is.

Yeah, I have a full-size tyre & alloy as a spare. But then I think that was the 'norm' back in '90........ ;)

I also have a 17" AMG wheel and tyre in my boot since the day I bought the car. No problems.
