Changing from Km/h on the display

Correct.

The requirement is for the ability to show kph when required, i.e. driving on the Continent

But once you have the conversion done you can no longer have the kph on the lower readout. (Pretty sure that's the case on my s211).

Legal requirement to have mph and kph displayed at all times in the UK. As the Merc dials only have mph markings, MB set the digital speedo to kph. I had my W203 cluster recoded by Alfie and now keep it set on outside temp most of the time... good times.

Selectable on the 203. I can change from kph to mph and from speed to outside temp :)

That's how it works - though you can page through to the digital big readout which is always in the selected format (so you can get km/h if you want it). Changing to km/h like that also changes your distance readings to km...

how do i get hold of Alfie?

UK mode can be turned off and other 'available' features enabled. Things such as Fuel tank content display, MPH/OTG in the status line, tyre pressure loss warning, auto folding mirrors (model dependent).

All for a nice cheap MBCLUB forum rate which includes a quick test of the whole car for any problems past/present. We can also enable the phone buttons and navigation display in case you decide to add ipod/phone or comand at a later date. Saves you going to the dealer.

Alfie, let me know when you're next north of the border - I still haven't found a dealer or indie in the Glasgow area able/prepared to do this.
