Hi all,

I'm Adam, the new owner of a CLK 200 Kompressor Avantgarde 2003 (W209)..

When I press the headlamp washer button, they don't function, what i do notice is that the headlights dim a tiny bit while i have my finger on the button (a clue for someone who understands the mechanism), otherwise nothing... I have checked the fuse diagram and it says its fuse number. 63 (5 AMP), which I have checked, looks fine, I reseated it... still no headlamp washers.. I then replaced it with another Mercedes Benz 5 AMP fuse , still nothing...

The common windscreen/headlamp washer fluid reservoir is topped up fine...

As a new MB owner, bieng not very technical, and skint now after buying my car, I have come on here for your kind expert advice and opinions on this issue..

I look forward to any feedback. Regards, Adam

Thanks for the fast response, where should I be listening? at the front of the car or from inside?

At the front.

It needs to go on a Star (MB diag equipment) first really.

The motor that powers the washer is on the resevoir on the front left. Check for 12V there when the button is pressed.

The buttons are quite common to get sticky and stop working

Put your ear to the bottle...have some else operate it:D:D

Guys, thanks...

I had someones head nxt to the bottle, no sound at all when the button is pressed.. We tried when engine was off or started.. no sound coming from near the bottle.. Can someone advise exactly where the motor is, i cant get below the reservior tank and cant see any motor around there...

BlackC55, when you say buttons get sticky, you mean the one in the cockpit? how can I test that...don't know where to start really...

You can't really without a Star.

Take the front left wheel off.

Take the wheel arch liner out at the front and the pump is on the washer bottle. There are two pumps. One for screen and one for headlamps. Find the headlamp one and check for voltage with the bonnet closed and button pressed. Expect 12V

If you don't get 12V either the button is innop, the wiring is faulty or the SAM unit has gone kaput.

My advise is to get it on a Star!!

Thanks BlackC55, bit daunting.. may give it a try during sunlight hours.. Also, how to get it on a star short of forking out to MB themselves?

Any decent specialist should have one.
