Hi guys and gals!

Quick question - the mechanism for the boot is working fine, handle all fine, remote open etc etc all good - but the barrel of the lock (not sure if this is the right designation - it's the bit for a key just above the number plate) looks corroded.

I'm not sure this is covered by mobilo, but in any case is there something I can use to improve it's appearance / prolong the life...?

If not, am I stuck with going into a main stealer for a new bit (just called MB Manchester and looking at £200 inc vat for parts plus labour @ £120 per hour).

Cheers

Hi,

What you need to do, is take the keys, including the spares, with you to a Porsche dealer and p/x the car for a nice 911. :bannana::bannana:

jiggidy jiggidy... ohhh yeah!
;)

The lock barrel is cast aluminium alloy with brass levers inside it so it won’t rust as such unless someone has stuck a nail into the lock. You could squirt some penetrating oil into the key hole through an aerosol can equipped with a straw then work the key in the lock.

The can seize up due to infrequent use.

Unfortunately it's not uncommon for clk's to rust around the bootlock,if the mechanism works ok then have the rust looked at by a good bodyshop & ask how much to get it repaired;)

OK getting it looked at at the weekend. Cheers!
