If I do purchase the car, can a xenon hid kit be fitted or if I manage to find some original xenons would these be plug and play
The xenon kit would be much easier to source and fit than to either source or fit the original bi-xenon lights.

looks impressive was it plug and play with no coding required
How about these they were recommended to me by someone who has a clk who had xenons and sold them and purchased the ones in the link instead and claims they are better than the xenons

Someone on here has a similar set to these, cant recall the name of the thread.
If you decide to go for the HID kit, go for the 35w kit with no higher than 6k bulbs, unless you want a strong blue output, which will be the 8/10k
which xenon kit do you recommend, will it be plug and play and no coding required
It should be plug and play, I have had it on my previous car so can't remember the exact kit or supplier, just make sure that you go for the slim ballast kit in 35w, just pick a reputable supplier that offers warranty on the kit and double check that it will be error free on the CLK.
I have found xenon to be far superior to halogen in my previous car and would have fitted hid to my current car had it not had factory fitted xenon.
I recently fitted a Chinese unit to my pre-facelift interior 2004 CLK.
It works very well and the steering wheel controls work, and I had to fit an external handsfree mic as the built-in mic was too quiet.
Also I retro-fitted the digital climate control which I imported from the USA for £40.
Cheers! i'm going to try and find the other post again reference the headlights from fk and check whether they are better than the hid kit and then decide which to go for
Here you go, I'm not a fan though, they look too busy in my opinion. You'll like the rear LED lights though

the headlights don't appear to be 'xenons' I think I may stick with the hid kit open cheaper, is it easy to install?
the rear lights look good, seem to be a copy of the rear lights you see on the BM's
Really interested in how these perform, was seriously considering the face lift option due to the number of features. How is the sound quality?
The sound quality is at least as good as the original Command unit and there is an MCU firmware update on my KGL version that further improves the sound and I only have standard speakers.
The FM radio reception is also very good.
There are several variants of these Chinese units and I guess there may be luck involved in finding a good variant.
Mine is an MTCB quad core RK3188 Android 4.4.4 1080x600 which I got from an ebay seller in Spain.
Cheers
