I've put the pictures in the members gallery as promised :)

Fantastic trip and really pleased with the car - even better than I was expecting and can remember from the test drive!

The guy showing me around the car also said that the car has the new nano-particle ceramic paint so was well chuffed as I wasn't expecting it!

Hope you like the pictures :)

Paul

Brilliant write-up Paul. Looks like you had a great time.

120mph to run it in though . . . .

Congrats. Great write up & restraint on the autobahn!

Only ticking over in top I expect.

Car looks lovely.

Fair play on the 120 you might as well have a go safe in the knowledge there are no Police waiting behind trees for you.

Did you go to Bremen?? I noticed you mentioned that you saw the SL in production??

The reason I ask is that i'm due to go next week to collect my SL, just wondered where you stayed.

We are due to go from Bremen to Amsterdam then back via the Chunnel.

Hi,

Yes, we did go to Bremen. In Bremen itself we stayed in the Park Hotel which was very nice although a little quiet (but then again, Bremen was quiet probably due to the time of year). Unfortunately, they were working on a part of the building (see to the right of the picture from the outside) but it didn't affect us at all. The evening meal was very good.

Outside view looking towards the hotel over the lake. The right wing is being worked on but inside you don't notice it.

Room view - room was very comfortable.

On the way back we stayed in the Schlosshotel Wilkinghege which is about 100 miles south west of Bremen (straight down the A1) near Munster. It is a country hotel where you can park the car directly outside the main entrance and it's quite safe. It is also only just off the A1 therefore no driving through towns and panicking someone is going to drive into the car!! Take a look at the 'Relais & Chateaux' website or search for the name of the hotel if you're interested.

Bremen itself was quiet, although the Marketplatz was only a 15 minute stroll from the hotel (the Park Hotel is set in Burgerpark which is just outside the centre - the Marriott and Hilton and pretty much set right in there) and very easy to get to. From there it's worth just walking around the Schnoor Quarter and the Promenade although both were fairly quiet. I can imagine it would be quite nice to be able to sit outside in some of the cafes in the summer!

Well, I certainly envy you the trip (I thoroughly enjoyed myself!) and your car :) Hope you have fun :)

Congrats - brought back memories of our collection trip last September. How do you find the ventilated seats ?

Clarky.

Thanks Paul

We are also staying at the Park Hotel for the first night, the pics look great.

Cheers for the info we will definately give the maket place a look.

Great write up and lovely car! Let us know how it goes picking it up from the dealers. Do they give it a full valet to make it look new again?

Yep, full valet done by dealer (I also went for the Autoglym Lifeshine - told you I was lazy - haha). As good as new, but within 20 miles of the dealer already a bit dirty from the wet roads! Oh well...

I think I need a hot day for the ventilated seats to really work, because, although you can hear the fans if you get your ear to the seat, you don't really feel much as it is drawing the cabin air from under the seat and through it - and the air in the car isn't particularly cold. I couldn't really feel much! I'm expecting that I'll need a hot day when I can feel the air-conditioned cold air drawing through the seat. Well, I hope :D

Out of interest Paul how much did they charge for the LifeShine??

My dealer has quoted £250 including a bag of goodies??

More expensive! 300 quid with box of goodies, although I also got 2 keyrings, luggage boot net and the latest nav 2004 CD (car came with 2003/2004 CD!). On the whole though not displeased.
