Todays task was Coat 13, I did all paint and the wheels with Demon Shine (neat). The result is shiny but took a bit of elbow grease as it became a bit smeary on top of C2. Not as happy with DS today as I have been in the past especially on my silver car.

I also redid the engine bay with DS and colour wax for the painted surface inside the bonnet but on top of the wing, the bit you miss when you do just the outside with the bonnet shut. Paint in the Engine Bay now coming along OK.

The painted area when the strut top is is nearly there.

I'm now happy with this side.

Sorry these phone pics are'nt as good as usual.

Your motor must rank among the cleanest and best protected, if not the top one in the land. If I wore a hat I'd take it off to you :thumb:
You're certainly setting very high standards for the rest of us to try and achieve. (Can't you have a day off occasionally?.....lol)

You are very kind. I work from home so I get odd half hours free to do a bit more. The trouble is some of the professional detailers would laugh at my efforts because the paint has never been corrected and so there are scratches and marks under my efforts which they could remove easily with polishers and cutting. I guess I do not bad given that a. I'm a humble amatuer and b. I can't do proper paint correction.

My preparations today are in advance of Russ at Reflectology sending me some samples to try out against my existing products in order to see how I get on with them. Hope it's sunny when they arrive!

With all the work you put into the bodywork of your car, I'm surprised you haven't done paint correction - it's not rocket science!

Dear wife bought me a Kestrel DAS 6 for Xmas 3 years ago, and instead of following perceived wisdom and starting on either a scrap bonnet or her car, I started on my Guards Red 968 coupe, using a soft Sonus pad and Autoglym Bodyshop 02B (2000 grit) paint correction fluid. In hindsight I maybe should have spent a bit more on 3M stuff they use at Motorcare - 3M do a 3000 grit correction fluid, but it's about £35 per litre!

The big tip is use 3M blue masking tape on all edges when using the machine and correcting fluid, plus start gently and check frequently. It's disturbingly easy! The difference it made to my 968 was immense.

After the 02B I took the masking tape off and used AG Bodyshop 01B hard polish, again with the DAS 6 and a soft Sonus pad. I'd finally got rid of the swirl marks that had accumulated through years of washing the car with a normal cellulose sponge, the paintwork was back to flat and unmarked.

Some wax and seal and the car looked superb - that was 3 years ago and she still looks as good - sold her July last year, she's currently on eBay in Buckingham if you want to see her.

As a pro, I would never knock your work, but take my hat off to you. I feel as part of my job is to educate people that cleaning your car the right way way is the best way. You are one of those people and therefore makes me happy you have turned to the dark side:) keep up the good work and let's keep those cars clean;)

I should have added after detailers "but none on here!" You and your fellow detailers have been nothing but encouraging. Sorry for the wrong inferance! :)

I won't bore you all with more photos but coat 13 of neat Demon Shine caused the deep black to "milk" slightly and so Coat 14 -black wax is now safely applied.
